@BillBlair @cafreeland @liberal_party @CommrRCMPGRC @CMOH_Alberta @KayceeMaduYEG @jkenney

This is ridiculous that the RCMP are refusing to shut down this facility and continue to allow severely disinformed church goers to continue to put people in the Edmonton region in danger.
This must be stopped and the RCMP must be investigated to discern if there is any favouritism and leniency being provided in light of the Church’s board member and elder being a former RCMP officer.
It is intolerable for the vast majority of citizens to continue to be held in lockdown because some people refuse to follow the covid orders and flout the law.

Obviously, local law enforcement and political leaders are not enforcing covid measures.
This needs immediate attention from federal authorities and a crack down on law enforcement officers who ideologically align with disinformation regarding covid.

It’s unconscionable and infuriating that the local police haven’t dealt with this situation appropriately.
Innocent Albertans continue to be exposed to these church attendees when they venture out to buy groceries or run errands. Our children attend the same schools.

Public and shopping areas are rendered unsafe.

We can not tolerate people who refuse to acknowledge science.
Our lives are at risk because our local police and provincial government will do nothing to stop this from occurring. It started in late November 2020 and has occurred weekly since then. Almost 3 months.
How many innocent Albertans need to become infected before those with the authority to stop this will step in.

The public is seriously considering taking the matter into its own hands.

The last thing we need is a vigilante solution to an ideological problem.
Deal with the ideology already. It’s long past due that these Q’Anon beliefs and the faith in some divine protective barrier will prevent covid from spreading. And it’s the innocent Albertans paying the price.
We pay taxes so law enforcement officers can enforce the laws. We elect representatives to put laws in place to protect the public. And we pay those leaders significant funds to do their job. But the Alberta provincial govt has seen fit to ignore their responsibility.
This choice puts the entire nation at risk. Outbreaks cannot be contained when the authorities have abandoned their duties and obligations to protect the public at large in favour of supporting a small radicalized religious minority.
There is absolutely no grounds for religious freedom to be honoured when it puts the health and safety of an entire region at risk.

Stop playing jurisdictional “hot potato” and shut this dangerous nonsense down. We know the provincial authorities won’t.
It’s time the federal authorities took protecting Albertans & all Canadians health and safety seriously. Addressing the intentional disinformation campaign regarding covid MUST be addressed. The majority of us are about to mutiny from being held hostage by radicalized extremists.
We need firm and principled leadership.

We need an intervention to protect our collective health and safety.

I realize this could start a violent backlash. But that’s already being threatened by citizens who are watching a church group being allowed to break the law.
Enough is enough! Albertans have reached the end of public tolerance for intentional provocation and political sabotage when it comes to covid measures.

We will NOT watch the next year be stolen from us because local RCMP and the provincial govt have abdicated responsibility.
It is madness to allow this to continue week after week with paltry fines for pastors who then claim political persecution and martyrdom.

This has to end now or it will get out of hand.

Please address this issue. ASAP.
And it’s not just me who can see this.

Covid is airborne. For this who don’t understand this medical term, that means it spreads when we inhale covid virus that is exhaled by an infected person.

The old virus was highly contagious. About 15 minutes and a small but significant viral load was required for infection.
Over 21K people have died and 827K have been infected in Canada.

And that’s with most of the population making severe choices to distance, wear masks and eliminate unnecessary outings.

The new virus variants are more infectious.
Meaning these variants require a far smaller viral load to infect or perhaps a smaller amount of exposure time or the virus lingers in the air and stays infectious for long after the host has left the area (like measles).

Remember when American far right promoted seniors sacrificing themselves so the economy could remain strong for their children and grandchildren?

In the UK, the cons have broadened that narrative to include parents of children in school.
The woman in the embedded thread was told she had already lived long enough and she should sacrifice herself for her children’s mental health.

That’s insane. The use of consequentialist ethics to ensure working parents can continue to work is reprehensible & diabolical.
In the ongoing conversation in the thread, some reference is made to comorbidities.

As if health issues are relevant to the situation?! She should gladly sacrifice her life so that her children can be with their peers and receive an education. WTAF?!?

I have to admit, I tend to agree with Joe Clark. But not his rationale.

I am getting frustrated with the Liberal govt.

Not because of the nonsense offered by opposition parties as scandals, but bc of the negligence in general over health & economics. cbc.ca/news/canada/ca…
I know the Liberals have done a great job protecting the public’s health and ensuring most people have the funds to get through the pandemic. I have a few complaints though.

As an Albertan, we’ve been hung out to dry, again.
It’s no secret that Kenney is ignoring Covid safety measurements and creating a dangerous situation by swinging back and forth to open and close the economy for the maximum spread of covid.

Ottawa must know the reason. Because UCP has absolute power during the pandemic.

PALEOLIBERTARIANISM.

This article doesn’t analyze why the province wants to move to a provincial police force. While it reviews costs, it doesn’t delve into the “benefits” from the perspective of UCP. Why might UCP want it’s own police force?

stalberttoday.ca/local-news/may…
To understand the decision making premise of UCP, first you need to understand their ideology.

Paleolibertarianism is the prevailing ideological base from which UCP operates.

While they call themselves conservative, paleolibertarians are not. They’re in a league of their own.
Roughly fashioned after Reconstruction Era 19th century Gilded Age Robber Barons and Redeemers, paleolibertarians represent “Old Conservatism,” institutional authoritarian governance through social pressure, and unregulated property rights and deregulated free market economies.

I know this thread is full of technical information.

But I’m encouraging everyone to read it.

Basically several nations have delved into Google’s business model and found it’s a monopoly along with Facebook.
This is what the anti-trust laws of the early 20th century were meant to prevent.

The result was to divide Standard Oil (John A. Rockefeller’s oil monopoly) into several smaller companies. That solution didn’t really fix the problem though.
Years later, US anti-trust laws are being lobbied heavily to be repealed and to allow unregulated monopolies.

As evidenced by this one article of many more just like it. cei.org/issue_analysis…

Looky look!

Pastor has been charged at Grace Life Church.

It’s taken long enough.

Now watch the claims of religious persecution abound.

Just like @C_Stroop opined. Evangelical Christians get to feel superior when they claim persecution.
I would not be surprised if this was their political goal all along.

That way the media amplifies their conspiracy theory rationale, providing some level of credibility and validation.

Media needs to be careful how this is presented.
Radicalized Evangelical Christians are putting the rest of the community in danger by refusing to abide by covid measures. Contempt for others’ health while spreading a deadly disease is not a religious right.

That needs to be made clear in media reports.
