Covid is airborne. For this who don’t understand this medical term, that means it spreads when we inhale covid virus that is exhaled by an infected person.

The old virus was highly contagious. About 15 minutes and a small but significant viral load was required for infection.
Over 21K people have died and 827K have been infected in Canada.

And that’s with most of the population making severe choices to distance, wear masks and eliminate unnecessary outings.

The new virus variants are more infectious.
Meaning these variants require a far smaller viral load to infect or perhaps a smaller amount of exposure time or the virus lingers in the air and stays infectious for long after the host has left the area (like measles).
Scientific evidence is as yet indefinite existence and inconclusive at the moment. But we know it’s more contagious.

Some of the new variants are suspected of being more deadly. The current rate of mortality is about 1-2.5% in Canada. An increase in % would be devastating.
Either way, if it’s more deadly or more contagious or both, the numbers of severely ill and the mortality rate is expected to increase exponentially. Which is what other nations with variant outbreaks are experiencing.

So this response by Calgary Police is not excusable.
In comparison, in 1995 a radicalized extremist religious group attacked the Tokyo subway system with liquid sarin. A chemical weapon. Thirteen people died and over 6000 were injured.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_sub…
The casualties work out to 0.0022% mortality rate. Statistically minuscule. Yet it garnered international attention and a robust police response. Because a cult group planned and executed the attack in hopes of instigating a Third World War.
The threat was religious zealots putting people at risk to make trouble. A group of people intent on harming innocent bystanders to gain attention and create terror amongst citizens.

The police were unable to stop the initial attack.
Due to Japan previously providing the group religious status in its jurisdiction, monitoring its activities was prevented.

But once the threat and attack were determined, the group was investigated, dismantled and its leader executed for such heinous and anti-social crimes.
Calgary, Edmonton & RCMP police, are frequently well aware of the activities of religious zealots attempting to “exercise their liberty.”

Some of them asymptomatic carriers of a deadly infectious disease. One could describe those infected protesters as human bio weapons.
But our local police have not responded to the threat 1000 times more deadly from the regular virus than the sarin attack in Japan with any urgency or sense of danger.

Instead, perpetrators of the religious evangelical Christian cult & Q’Anon believers are allowed to carry on.
Uninterrupted and seemingly in full support by law enforcement to terrorize their respective communities. Evangelicals and Q’Anon extremists are given free rein to protest at their leisure, in public spaces, church services and now illegally on private property.
That’s how significant this abdication of the police’s responsibility to enforce the law is.

A deadly pathogen, 1000 times more deadly than the 1995 sarin attack in Tokyo, and probably significantly more deadly now that variants are spreading in the community, is being ignored.
It can easily be demonstrated with these facts that law enforcement has completely abandoned the protection of public welfare duties in tacit support of the extremist’s agenda.

The police are refusing to investigate, arrest and prevent extremists from spreading a known toxin.
Let that sink in. All the way in.

The police are no longer protecting the public. They’re enabling the extremists to spread a known toxin.

I don’t know where to go from here. I’m flabbergasted. Dumbfounded. Law enforcement no longer protects the public interest.
So who do the actions of the police protect? Who is benefitting from police refusing to enforce public health orders?

The most radical Dominionist Christians.

That’s the answer. That’s who is benefitting. The leadership of the Alberta based Dominionist political movement.
Most Albertans have no concept of who are and what is the Dominionist Christian political movement.

More people are aware than say 2 years ago, but not enough. Not enough to recognize what is happening in Alberta, and across Canada.
Most believe Q’Anon & ultra conservative & zealously nationalist Evangelical Christian extremists are a fringe group.

There are over 6600 far right extremist groups (not people ~ groups of people) in Canada. Out of US, UK and Canada, it’s Canada who has the highest per capita.
But these extremists are concentrated in certain regions, not all of Canada.

Rural parts of prairie provinces, NE & interior BC, rural Ontario & Quebec, & other pockets within urban areas across Canada.

These groups have been spreading propaganda & indoctrinating recruits.
It would be foolish & dangerous for Canadians to presume law enforcement officers are immune to the recruitment efforts of cults.

They most obviously are not.

And that leaves the public in a precarious and vulnerable position.
Albertans have UCP in government who are unconcerned about health impacts on the citizenry, law enforcement who half heartedly acknowledge the public health orders & refuse to enforce the orders to protect the public from a pathogen 1000 times more deadly than 1995 sarin attack.
Objectively, these facts are terrifying. Our government doesn’t care if we live or die as long as we keep working and creating profits for the wealthy in the mean time. Our law enforcement appears to support this agenda by refusing to protect the public when orders are made.
Is this sinking in yet? We are in deep deep trouble.

We need to fight back now. This is too far gone to wait for an election 2 years away and too dangerous to wait for vaccinations to be completed.

I’m scared we are nearing the point of no return.
Alberta is ruled by an extremist Dominionist Christian leader. 50/67 MLAs are part of his tyranny of the minority. Law enforcement has possibly been compromised by ideological & religious extremism converts. Federally 90/120 CPC are part of the Dominionist Christian movement.
The majority of Albertans are either in support of Dominionism or oblivious to what’s happening.

I’m open to suggestions. Complaining on Twitter isn’t changing anything. It’s time to organize.

Remember when American far right promoted seniors sacrificing themselves so the economy could remain strong for their children and grandchildren?

In the UK, the cons have broadened that narrative to include parents of children in school.
The woman in the embedded thread was told she had already lived long enough and she should sacrifice herself for her children’s mental health.

That’s insane. The use of consequentialist ethics to ensure working parents can continue to work is reprehensible & diabolical.
In the ongoing conversation in the thread, some reference is made to comorbidities.

As if health issues are relevant to the situation?! She should gladly sacrifice her life so that her children can be with their peers and receive an education. WTAF?!?

@BillBlair @cafreeland @liberal_party @CommrRCMPGRC @CMOH_Alberta @KayceeMaduYEG @jkenney

This is ridiculous that the RCMP are refusing to shut down this facility and continue to allow severely disinformed church goers to continue to put people in the Edmonton region in danger.
This must be stopped and the RCMP must be investigated to discern if there is any favouritism and leniency being provided in light of the Church’s board member and elder being a former RCMP officer.
It is intolerable for the vast majority of citizens to continue to be held in lockdown because some people refuse to follow the covid orders and flout the law.

Obviously, local law enforcement and political leaders are not enforcing covid measures.

I have to admit, I tend to agree with Joe Clark. But not his rationale.

I am getting frustrated with the Liberal govt.

Not because of the nonsense offered by opposition parties as scandals, but bc of the negligence in general over health & economics. cbc.ca/news/canada/ca…
I know the Liberals have done a great job protecting the public’s health and ensuring most people have the funds to get through the pandemic. I have a few complaints though.

As an Albertan, we’ve been hung out to dry, again.
It’s no secret that Kenney is ignoring Covid safety measurements and creating a dangerous situation by swinging back and forth to open and close the economy for the maximum spread of covid.

Ottawa must know the reason. Because UCP has absolute power during the pandemic.

PALEOLIBERTARIANISM.

This article doesn’t analyze why the province wants to move to a provincial police force. While it reviews costs, it doesn’t delve into the “benefits” from the perspective of UCP. Why might UCP want it’s own police force?

stalberttoday.ca/local-news/may…
To understand the decision making premise of UCP, first you need to understand their ideology.

Paleolibertarianism is the prevailing ideological base from which UCP operates.

While they call themselves conservative, paleolibertarians are not. They’re in a league of their own.
Roughly fashioned after Reconstruction Era 19th century Gilded Age Robber Barons and Redeemers, paleolibertarians represent “Old Conservatism,” institutional authoritarian governance through social pressure, and unregulated property rights and deregulated free market economies.

I know this thread is full of technical information.

But I’m encouraging everyone to read it.

Basically several nations have delved into Google’s business model and found it’s a monopoly along with Facebook.
This is what the anti-trust laws of the early 20th century were meant to prevent.

The result was to divide Standard Oil (John A. Rockefeller’s oil monopoly) into several smaller companies. That solution didn’t really fix the problem though.
Years later, US anti-trust laws are being lobbied heavily to be repealed and to allow unregulated monopolies.

As evidenced by this one article of many more just like it. cei.org/issue_analysis…

Looky look!

Pastor has been charged at Grace Life Church.

It’s taken long enough.

Now watch the claims of religious persecution abound.

Just like @C_Stroop opined. Evangelical Christians get to feel superior when they claim persecution.
I would not be surprised if this was their political goal all along.

That way the media amplifies their conspiracy theory rationale, providing some level of credibility and validation.

Media needs to be careful how this is presented.
Radicalized Evangelical Christians are putting the rest of the community in danger by refusing to abide by covid measures. Contempt for others’ health while spreading a deadly disease is not a religious right.

That needs to be made clear in media reports.
