They have no desire to keep the citizens informed. Absolutely none. The driving force for our corporate press is to protect and preserve the power structure of the establishment/ruling class.

The establishment (both Republicans & Democrats) have been fighting like hell to keep this gravy train rolling even at the expense of the American working class. They aren’t worried about losing their constituents. They’re worried about losing their donors and speaking gigs.
