The reason I bought a James Hardley Chase was because of the scantily dressed women.

I started smoking because of the Marlboro advert of a cowboy wearing Sancho boots with Levi Strauss jeans.

I started going to the gym because of the front covers of Mills and Boon.
Reading books of such made me see women as filial and weak because in such books, the woman was resisting physically yet desiring within.

The man was supposed to dominate her by kissing her fiercely.

Porn? It was endless. We had older ones who counted women as trophies.
Anything good? Yes! I studied Computer Science because of Computer Chronicles that was showing back then on TV.

I thirsted for the supernatural when I watched a ministration by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome on Channels.

I didn’t understand it but I desired it.
Jesus said: it is not what enters a man that defiles him but what comes out of him.

The Psalmist said “Your word have I hid in my heart (soul) that I won’t sin against you”.

Jesus said “...out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks”.

More?
Solomon said: “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life”.

Beloved, what have you been feeding yourself? There’s so much pulling for your attention but what are you doing about it?

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee:
...because he trusteth in thee.

Where is your mind dear Believer? How are you keeping sane in a noisy world filled with spiritistic carnage?

How? I’m asking, how?!

Let it be the word of God... let it be, only the word of God.

Peace.

Yesterday on the TEAM platform, we had fun when I endlessly teased the younger men who were unmarried and not in a relationship.

It was a tease but deep down, I was serious. I called them - Set Ndi "God told me to tell you" and in my years as a Believer I know this -
... many young men aren't trying in their steps in wooing a woman and they don't even want to learn.

I was sharing on Zoom in I programme I was invited to speak, on how I spoke to my wife and the things I did to win her over.

The fact that God spoke didn't stop me...
...playing my part. I wrote poems, love letters and prayers as a way of assuring her of the future God has planned for us.

My wife still has those letters today and still reads them to me (where I form hard guy but deep down, I'm hailing myself..lol).

It still makes her smile.

Every man has a story. Our stories are what makes us human. The stories that interest me the most are those in which the Holy Spirit changes the course of one’s life.

I recall his story.

A new party had finally taken over the political sphere of the country.
There was so much jubilation but with it came a witch-hunt on those who were enjoying the dividends of the previous administration.

EFCC didn’t waste time. His accounts were frozen and he was invited and grilled.

His passport was seized.
Things took a downward spiral and life became difficult.

His wife had to get several loans to assist where necessary and that took a toll on her.

An assistant branch manager who still took Tricycle to work daily. The children had to change schools.

It was in January of 2019 during a first Sunday service of the year he was made Men's Fellowship leader.

The gathering of men was poor and the commitment from them was nothing to write home about.

Time and time again, the Pastor called for Men to sit up but no response.
The previous leader was a fantastic man who had grown weary and discouraged due to life's challenges. The financial strain on him was too much.

He tried. He really did but it was never enough.

When he was to step down, the Pastor asked him "Who will take over?".
He didn't hesitate - "Brother X" he said.

The Pastor called Brother X immediately he got into church and informed him.

"You will be the new Men's Fellowship leader" said the Pastor.

Brother X laughed because on the last week of December, the Holy Spirit already told him.

There are times in church we must yield to the move of the Spirit simply because there are certain things He wants to handle personally.

I once attended a church where if sin and hell isn’t preached, the service was not considered “hot”.
The Pastor was a good man but he really wanted to bring people to Christ but his approach was worrisome.

He would bring up certain OT teachings and tie it to issues church members were facing.

After the service, everyone was somber and “cut to the heart”.
People would come for altar call but after that service, you won’t see them again.

“The wages of sin is death...” and under my breath, I’ll whisper “and the gift of God is everlasting life”.

The church wasn’t growing and even the ministers were weary.

He was praying one morning when he saw a strange revelation. He was on a platform and hanging above his head was a hangman noose.

Suddenly, the platform started rising and his neck was almost in the noose when he woke up.

He asked the Holy Spirit what it meant.
“There’s a trap being set for you by members of the fellowship”. The Holy Spirit told him.

“Oh! What do I do?” He asked.

“When they come with their allegations and their demand for you to relinquish the leadership of the fellowship, relinquish and don’t argue”.
He had taken over the budding fellowship in the core North; a fellowship that had 5 centers all around the North.

The fellowship grew from 5 centers to 100 centers under his leadership but certain EXCOS weren’t happy he was becoming prominent.

Two days later, they summoned him.

Everyone in church knew him. He was a difficult man and would make boast of this.

“Even Pastor sef know say I stubborn”. He once boasted.

“Sir, you can’t reason with my husband! Many have tried including Pastor and he hasn’t changed”. His wife said.
He had a drinking problem; that much was evident. His eyes always looking beady.

Even with the AC in church, he would sweat like someone who was running a marathon.

He had an easy smile but at the edge of that smile was a man with a fierce temper.
He would beat his wife and send her out of the home. His teenage sons never wanted to be around him and he knew this so he made life difficult for them.

Several times have the Pastor, a wonderful and kind hearted man, done to entreat him speaking love to him.
