1] a #PeoplesThread

I give a summary of the critical points raised by Dr. Magaisa on how the @mdczimbabwe can push for "reforms", by being more inward looking, in terms of how the party can prepare itself for a fight against ZanuPF, as well as generally improving its operations.
2] a. Understanding its support base

Dr. Magaisa classifies party support as follows:
i. Vietnam/Soweto Section- diehard
ii. Moderate
iii. Floaters

The critical thing is understanding these types of supporters and how they can be kept involved & interested in party activities.
3] b. Party Structures

The split with the Mwonzora faction can not be treated as a non-event.
The organizing depart has to run a gap filling exercise as well as, mobilizing, restructuring & energizing party structures.
The restructuring exercise should also target rural areas.
4] c. Party agents

critical points:
i. ensuring a presence at every polling station
ii. timeous deployment of agents
iii. ensuring agents are well resources to guard against them being bribed
iv. Having die-hard supporters as agents
v. Training agents for election preparedness
5] d. Candidates

No imposition of candidates, but direct election through party primaries.

{Interestingly, the core MDC-T leadership has mostly PR MPs & Senators who lost MDC-A primary elections (Mudzuri, Chebundo) or those who chickened out altogether (Mwonzora, Komichi etc)}
6] e. Resource Mobilization
An effective election campaign needs resources

critical issues:
i. PPFA isn't coming
ii. Tech glitches on mobilization platforms need to be sorted
iii. Subscriptions that are affordable will attract more people
iv. Considering secure modes of payments
7] f. Strengthening Communication

-The appointment of @advocatemahere was on merit
- Comms depart needs resources
-Party needs to persistently counter propaganda
- Exploring ways of communicating to a broader audience (radio, Chamisa's guardian article)
- Effective SM presence
8] g. Being the alternative

i. effective monitoring of gov policies
ii. Setting the agenda, opposed to being reactionary
iii. Shadow Cabinet- a team of professionals tracking gov activities and giving policy based responses
iv. Communicating policy positions beyond manifestos
9] Party Name

Being decisive and investing more thought and resources on the issues of:
i. the party name
ii. party constitution

The MDC-T and ZanuPF will not relent on efforts to strip @mdczimbabwe of its identity.
The @mdczimbabwe better prepare than wait to be hit first.

1] Who else remembers Dugish Mohadi blaming the whites for not "teaching us how to manage the economy" post independence?

One wonders who then taught him how to allegedly manhandle his ex wife; chase after married woman and have unprotected sex in his government office. Image
2] Studies of history & cultures expose how sex was very much used as "an expression of power & authority", particularly during the liberation war.

Now, Kembo is an adult, and I'm certainly not treating him as a victim.

I'm rather wondering how things could have been different. Image
3] Some of our current leaders, from the liberation generation jumped into offices when they needed to get psychiatric help to help reintegrate them into society.

Some, in so many ways, express a lack of remorse, empathy, humility & humanity, which perhaps once kept them going Image

1] @nelsonchamisa:

"Africa cannot afford to continue with the despotic forms of governance that still proliferate across the continent. Authoritarian and dictatorial governments are repressive, corrupt and inefficient."
2] @nelsonchamisa:

"These authoritarian regimes share a common thread: they have no tolerance for dissent. Anybody who speaks out or raises questions is treated as if they were enemies of the state rather than a constructive part of the civic process."
3] @nelsonchamisa:

"Another common characteristic in these repressive govts is their refusal to allow young people to develop politically & take on leadership roles. This despite the reality that Africa has the world’s largest population of young people: the median age is 19.7"

1] My brother @MakomboreroH is a generational leader who believes in praxis politics.

You would think the outcome of the Gweru Congress & his countless detentions would have dampened his spirit.

alas...all he has gone through in his political life, has strengthened his resolve
2] Sadly, @MakomboreroH, one man can only do as much.

@daddyhope can only do as much.

@JobSikhala1 can only do as much.

@NgarivhumeJacob can only do as much.

The MDC Youth Assembly as a collective can only do as much.

The tragedy we find ourselves in, demands much more.
3] We find ourselves under a paranoid & draconian regime that has criminalized decent

They will continue to isolate & punish the most vocal with no sense of restraint

Every dissident voice is not safe
This is a reality that should shape our collective political course of action

1] #PeoplesThread

Just went through some article allegedly written by MDC-T Sec for Presidential Affairs, Hon V. Tsvangirai

I do not know the young man enough to judge whether or not he himself authored the opinion piece.

Regardless, I found it too interesting to ignore.
2] Firstly,Dr Magaisa is accused of "siding with G40 elements since 2013", with the latter sponsoring Chamisa's "violent & unconstitutional take over of the party".

The other claim is that the "G40 helped Chamisa purge senior Party members" such as Douglas, Mudzuri and Komichi.
3] Its self serving to say Chamisa unconstitutionally and violently grabbed the MDC-T.

Such claims are illogical, coming from individuals who sided then with him, and not Dr Khupe.
Individuals who campaigned for the alleged violent constitutional delinquent to go to State House.

1] Someone shared with me a #legal opinion which sought to separate "#facts from #fiction" with regards to the resolutions previously made by @OurMDCT during it's so called virtual #NationalCouncil

Carefully went through it, whilst referencing to the MDC-T #constitution itself..
2] On the attached press release, @witness_dube authoritatively claims that the "the National Council sitting as an extension of Congress moved to amend the MDC constitution..."

Apparently, the alleged amendment is the basis on which the appointment of Elias Mudzuri was ratified Image
3] Going through the MDC-T constitution itself, it would seem like the distinction between what a Congress and the National Council can do is clear.

Only a legally constituted Congress can amend the constitution of the MDC-T party according to clause 6.2.3 (e). ImageImage

1] Letter by @JobSikhala1 from prison:

"No matter the adversities, the liberation of our people from oppression and persecution can not be postponed any further. My persecution is a reflection of the suffering our people have been going through one generation after the other"
2] @JobSikhala1:

"In this instance, I am in complete shock of the reasons for my persecutions. there is no crime i committed. The plot and the plan of the dictatorship is to break me down. i will never be broken down because the demand for a free and just society is a calling.."
3] @JobSikhala1:

"Even if I die in the concentration camp called Chikurubi Maximum Prison, dear Zimbabweans remember me. Remember that it is because of our freedom, happiness and liberty that has been robbed from one generation to another, that I met my fate.."
