"A pandemic (and COVID is mild one) is viral fire that burns down households, and communities.
2/
"In a real fire, citizens expect firefighters to do their job. While battling a blaze, they don’t suddenly roll up the hoses and tell homeowners they’d better learn how to live with this fire for now.
3/
Nor do they sit down and have a Monty Python-like debate about the role of government in fighting fires or how fire trucks curtail the freedom of citizens to park on any street they like
Operating on the reality principle, firefighters get the job done and save what they can
4/
"They stamp out every smoldering ember so there is no more exponential growth. They end the threat.
"And that’s what we must do with COVID. The example of Australia and New Zealand says we can do that in five to seven weeks.
5/
"The choice should belong to [Citizens], and not their politicians. Their passivity has failed us.
6/
"But it is not too late to choose a life without the virus.
"The choices are stark: We can carry on our witless way and drift on the COVID sea, or change our strategy and go for zero.

Congratulations!
India continues to report great progress. Currently 13 states and territories report less than 20 new cases per day, our “Winners Circle” at endcoronavirus.org/india-states-ut.
22 regions are in our “nearly there” category, new cases below ⅕ of their peak. Several are very close to “winning”: Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand.
The only region in India that is currently in our “needs action” category is Kerala. After initial success, Kerala opened up too soon and is now one of the hardest-hit regions.
Outbreaks in Kozhikode, Ernakulam and Malappuram districts are responsible for many of the cases.
Both Guam and the US Virgin Islands remain green, as they report very few cases per day. Well done!
New variants are still a significant concern in US, which now has 1,277 confirmed cases of the more transmissible, more severe B.1.1.7 “UK” variant. Nearly ⅓ of which are found in Florida.
US will record over 500,000 deaths and we know many more have happened.
Peru’s summer resurgence is now showing case and death rates similar to their previous peaks. Stress on their medical system forced much of the country into a lockdown, which started Jan 31.
