I’ve noticed the whole pandemic this weird thing where I’ll be walking down the street and someone will lock eyes with me and suddenly walk straight towards me then change course right before they collide with me, almost like a glitchy NPC.
I don’t know why people do it but it’s scary! Has anyone else experienced this in cities or otherwise? It’s like they’ll be walking straight not towards you but opposite direction adjacent you then see you, make intense eye contact and jerk into a path directly towards you... 😟
I’m in NYC. Is this some kind of intimidation thing that young people are doing? Like remember when there was that thing online where women were walking at men to see if they’d move if they didn’t move for them and were colliding with strangers on the street because of it
Only other explanation I can think of is that they’re in a shocked daze about how surreal it is out with everyone in masks and other post apocalyptic vibes and they’re already dazed from being on phones all day and suddenly snap out of it and remember they’re going the wrong way
And it’s like maybe they’re not looking at any person specifically maybe their gaze just rests on whoever is in front of the direction they suddenly realize they need to go and maybe they don’t think anyone will notice because of masks and everyone else being in a daze themselves
But I swear every time it happens I feel like the person is about to stab me or something
Doesn’t help that there are stories every day of strangers stabbing strangers unprovoked on NYC subways in the middle of the day
The explanation I’d think of if I heard this would be “they’re actually looking at you because they’re just trying to coordinate with you so they can merge into your line of walking and get past you without collision” but this is different, the actual experience is not that
Like I’ve experienced the unspoken walking coordination eye contact, I mean ffs I worked in a restaurant it was like my entire day. This is not that. This is something more sinister...
But the question is, is it really, or am I reading it as more sinister because eyes without nose or mouth come across more sinister and mysterious than an entire face? I don’t know.
It hasn’t happened in maybe like a month (I’ve been out more sparingly because of the cold and snow and ice) but it still sticks in my mind as one of the most surreal things I keep seeing during the pandemic.

I wish people in general knew how to use the cues people use in restaurants, when walking in crowded areas. Stuff like shouting “corner” and “behind” and “sharp” on the off chance they’re carrying something pointy, and staying to the right side of the sidewalk or whatever.
I found when serving in a crowded space that the diners don’t really understand anything, let alone cues staff use on each other. Even if I yelled a sentence like “coming around the corner with a tray of food/drinks!” they were completely oblivious unless security yelled “MOVE!”
I think people get dumber when they’re standing around in a crowded environment that’s supposed to be fun. It’s like they know they’re being served so they just drop all comprehension of the world around them because they expect to have that done for them as well.

Parents homeschooling will make parents smarter. I saw a news segment where a mom said “I have to teach it to myself then teach them, it’s too much!”. Parents are brainwashed to think this is bad, but this constant state of learning is what keeps our minds from aging!
There’s this misconception that teachers have to be these geniuses that have all the info at the ready in their heads at all times. This is not true usually. They go off materials and they teach the same specific stuff over and over. A parent only has to learn and teach it once.
Imagine your child is learning science. Not only do you get to brush up on the science you were hazy on in school, with your now more able adult mind, you get to explain it to your child in a way that will actually interest THEM because you know them better than anyone. Win, win.

Ok I’m sorry for being so mean to wrestling. That was uncalled for. 😇 However, I’m not sorry for being so mean to public schools. That was very called for. 😎
The wrestling thing was PMS combined with pandemic fatigue and the fact that wrestling will always have lulls and go through boring phases and that’s ok it’s still great.
The public schools thing was based on the reality that public schools are just a means to totalitarian control over the minds and behavior of the masses no matter what side controls them and how now they’re controlled by communist minded radicals.

You know how bad parents just give their kids screens to get them to shut up and be distracted while they get real shit done? That’s elites with the masses.
And you know how bad parents give their kids shitty plastic versions of everything to play with instead of doing enriching activities with them with real things they could break? That’s the elites with the masses.
A thing all parents realize, good and bad, is that kids of all ages think they know everything and want to do it all, even when they know very little. Give them a plastic saw and hammer and plastic food and a plastic kitchen and a tv and a phone, and they think they’re involved.

Ok here’s what I want out of a place to live. And yes I know I want to have my cake and eat it too with a lot of these. Anyway maybe some of you who know something about laws and culture and are traveled, name places to live that are good for these things, aaaand GO:
beautiful old architecture, nature, all four seasons, ability to see actual stars in the sky, aesthetic places to film, home/land ownership, small business ownership, gun ownership and carrying, being able to modify one’s home with as little red tape as possible,
constitutional parenting rights, as constitutional in every way as possible (the amendments and rights actually apply and the place isn’t indoctrinated with intersectionality, critical race theory, and cancelling everyone, and has as little political correctness as possible),

For years, I heard our room mate coughing all the time and suspected he had an undiagnosed lung condition. Then recently it dawned on me: he never drinks water... ever. I’m not even going to try to tell him to drink water. A person like this is too far gone to reason with.
The only times I see him even get CLOSE to drinking water is when I find random FULL glasses/mugs of water that he pours and NEVER remembers to drink, and just leaves places. I think he might not be human...
I don’t think I’ve ever SEEN him drinking water with my own eyes. Once he was coughing during dinner and we told him to drink water and he went in the other room and sounds of water MAYBE being prepared were heard, but I DUNNO that could have been fake appeasement at this point..
