A year ago, I was in DC attending a @WeDemandJustice. It was a Dem debate night (the night Liz Warren went for Mike Bloomberg's exposed jugular). In my hotel room that night, I made a list about everything I knew about coronavirus... and everything I knew about Republicans
Instead of assuming the government was on top of it, I assumed complete incompetence. I figured, given Trump, he wouldn't do anything about it until white people started dying, so I had to survive about six weeks when mainly poor people would be left to die, before relief came.
I was actually terrified on the train back home. And then I had to do the hard part: convince my wife and 70yo mother to *stop going to work*
I couldn't do it that week, but I used ever skill of argument and persuasion and got them to burn a week of vacation at the start of March
NEVER in my wildest nightmares did I think we'd be at the point were half a million people would die and we'd still be waiting for normal a year later.

But, 2/24/20 is when I decided: "What if this isn't a hoax and Trump is actually the President?"
LOL, here's what Trump tweeted on 2/24 last year that I'm *sure* I noticed as I was finally thinking it all through...

On the courts, Democrats are the kids who give the bully their lunch money without conflict to avoid the unpleasantness of being stuffed in a locker.
For those who don't know: blue slips allow Republicans to block district court appointments, if one Republican Senator from that district objects.

It's how, say, Texas courts end up being full of trash Republican judges, even when Dems are in control of the WH and Senate.
Republicans all but ignored blue slips while they were in power. So Dems holding to them for District Court is, you know, the classic Democrat thing of hugging the distinguished gentlemen from across the aisle who just wants to humiliate trans kids... because COMITY

@JoeBiden could not be more WRONG about student debt. It's not Harvard grads that graduate with the most student debt in this country, as Harvard has GENEROUS GRANT MONEY to offer

Check your BU grads, your BC grads, and your completely out of touch understanding of the problem.
Moreover, to the extent that graduates of elite and expensive schools have more debt, that debt is DISPROPOTIONIATELY borne by students of color, who are least likely to have family financial help them through the ivory education they've earned but can't afford.
And, don't even get me started on the fact that hampering students, ANY students, with a lot of debt, makes it MORE LIKELY those kids will take the highest paying/most soul destroying job they can find, as opposed to taking less money to contribute to the greater good.

This is the most "Indiana" story I've read since the one about the Vice President from Indiana who couldn't say a mean word about the boss who tried to have him murdered.

nytimes.com/2021/02/13/art…
“I can certainly say that if we were writing this again, with all the feedback we’ve gotten, we wouldn’t write it that way.”
-- like, notice the non-apology there? Oh, they're DEFINITELY still committed to "white art" (whatever in the FUCK that means), but won't say so again.
Their fix changes "white art" to "core art." Which, now that they've already expounded on what they think their "core" is, makes it literally no better.

Question for the hive mind.

You're almost done with your cup of coffee, but what's left is cold. There's hot coffee in the pot, and you're definitely going to have another cup. Do you:

A: Finish your cup of now cold coffee and then refill?
B: Top up your cup immediately?
You people arguing "C: dup the cup and refill with a fresh one" are some profligate motherfuckers. :)
You people suggesting a desk side mug warmer, which is an invention I did not know existed, have essentially:
A: Affirmed the entire point of this stupid app that has the side effect of ruining democracy.
B: Reminded me, once again, that money solves most problems.

The point of the witnesses was not to change Republican minds. Christ. The point of impeachment was not to change Republican minds. REPUBLICAN MINDS CANNOT BE CHANGED.
The point of witnesses was to make it as UGLY AS POSSIBLE for Republicans to vote to acquit, which we all knew they were going to do anyway.

Impeachment itself was a waste of time, if you thought the point was to convince REPUBLICANS.
The impeachment managers are saying "we proved our case."

THAT WAS NEVER IN DOUBT. The case was "proven" on Jan 6.

This should be interesting: Collins and Murkowski ask when Trump learned of the riot and what actions Trump took to stop the riot.
And Trump's lawyers just straight up don't know. And they're blaming a lack of an "investigation" for why they don't know.
That was, without a doubt, the weakest shit from Trump's people this entire week.

Think about a murder case:

Collins: When did you client know that the victim wounded, and what actions did you client take to save him.
Lawyers: Who can know? And THAT is the problem.
Jury: wut?
