Just trying to think off the top of my head of the errors I've made this season and want to just document them somewhere.. First up was going without Salah in Gameweek 1. It was Salah against a newly promoted team when everyone was going to cap him. Too big a risk early..(cont)
...doors. What sucked me in was a draft I made without Mo and that enabled me to get 2 more 8.5-9M ish players with a high perceived upside. Both of them were gambles (Kai + Dele) and the wish to start off on fire was bait I took and fell into a trap. Speaking of which that(cont)
is definitely a big error. There was too much trust in unproven assets early doors and need to take a leaf out of @FPL_Salah's book and turn down the volume with regards to unproven assets and unnecessary risks early doors. Also i'll admit that when the template is so..(cont)
...strong, the FPL manager inside you always tends to think that naaa the template is lazy and that you can do better and that your own well researched riskier picks have more potential. Need to curb that side which is difficult because its that thinking which has served..(cont)
..me so well so far but there is one big difference. The Twitter template is fucking well researched and strong and influenced by people who put a lot of time and work into it so pay closer attention before you dismiss it. Or if it affects you, next season, less scrolling..(cont)
..on twitter and more isolated moves where you're thinking by yourself and not even aware of the template. Need to figure this out during off season. Another problem was that I invested in triple city and wolves (Wildcard GW3 IIRC) way too early. This wasn't the error though..
..the error was holding onto them for too long. I had triple City attack in GW3 and they were struggling at the time. Investing was not the error but if you're seeing trends for some time, get off sooner. This was something I was usually ruthless and good with and showed a(cont)
lot of patience this season. No. Don't do it. Especially not with premium assets. Even the stubbornness with assets like Werner. I don't think the early stubbornness was poor but the second coming pick was definitely an error. In general I think there is too much keeness to(cont)
..get ahead of the pack early doors and that just needs to be fucking curbed. There needs to be a balance. Also what happens is its all well and rosy to listen to instinct when things are going your way but when you are on a bad run, you don't trust..(cont)
..yourself as much as you should and there is a little bit of haziness and blurriness in terms of what is your gut/instinct and what isn't. I don't know how to define this but there is confusion and you lose a sense of your own opinion/instinct..(cont)
..temporarily. Maybe read/listen a little less so that you have your own thoughts and voice instead of it being constructed by everything your reading and listening to. Need to address this somehow off season. Just putting it down here cuz i will get back to this thread (cont)
Also its okay to be stupid. A couple of times i've instinctively wanted to make stupid moves (done it a lot of times in the past) and my team is under a huge microscope atm and probably why i didnt do it. Its easier when no one is looking. Maybe have notifications off?(cont)
Definitely have spent too much time reading notifications this season and that needs to change. More highlights/game watching. Also less emotional. After a bad start, so many times I've not seen games where high EO players tend to affect you. Need to be more emotionless (cont)
while watching games because losing an opportunity to accumulate more subconscious data. More cold eye test processing robot less emo FPL manager. Reposting this tweet because I have more to say...The point above about being aware of the template and wanting to go against..(cont)
..it is going to be a problem given my personality. I know who I am and it just doesn't sit right sitting on the template for me. Maybe something needs to be done to be less aware of it or just correct personality in terms of how I want to evolve as a manager. Probably (cont)
the former because I'm stubborn as fuck and hate playing in an EO sorta way. Does not fucking suit me. Don't enjoy the game that way. Definitely going to note down initial instinct moves with pen paper after clocking games/highlights and probably need less scrolling on (cont)
twitter. Only way itll work else the world will call out the obvious (correct) picks but I like doing my own work and research and making my picks not you telling me (just who I am). What else? (cont)
That's all for now I think. More ruthless. Less scrolling. More balance. More football. Be aware of own opinion first. Probably watch highlights and read objective articles first. note down moves/ strat. then read other pieces. Yep. Thats it for now. Ta.
Also the FPL eco-system you surround yourself with. I was in tooooo many places this season. Need to sort that out.

[THREAD]

Just a ramble of thoughts that I have with the upcoming DGW. I'll keep it brief and to the point.

1) Antonio. He's still building fitness and the games are two days apart. Fixtures are good yes but know that its a punt. I agree that the options in that price...
...are limited but wanted to re-iterate that the games are two days apart.

2) High upside punts outside of the usual suspects? Mane, Timo, Vardy and Sterling. When it comes to Liverpool and Chelsea, I think the impact of the longer break is going to make a difference. Lamps..
..mentioned how important it was to get some time on the training pitch in his presser. Remember that when Chelsea had the full backs and Ziyech fit, they were a different beast. Fixtures after 19 nice too. Vardy faces Leeds in two games after the Double and you know..

FPL Captaincy, a [THREAD] (part 1)

A few people have been asking me to do a thread on my thinking behind captaincy so here goes. There isn't an exact science or theory behind it because i'm very instinctive (and lucky) but i fancy a ramble because i already miss writing. Read on
I got a total of 573 captaincy points and this is my breakdown of hauls in points:

0-9 pts: 14 GWS (Random 5, City 5, Salah 3, Martial 1)
10-19 pts: 11 GWS (Random 4, City 4, Salah 3)
20+ pts: 13 GWS (Salah 4, City 6, Martial 3)

I have never captained KdB.
What i learnt from the tweet above is primarily i love captaining city players (highest scoring team in the league) despite the rotation risk associated with them because when it comes through, i even hit 30+ hauls quite often. Do i deserve that luck? I did get 5 dud hauls and..

Beginner's guide to #ChampManFPL:

- I can't recommend this game enough. This game is based on a simulation in Championship Manager 01/02. You don't need to play or have played Championship Manager to do well in the game. I've never played Championship Manager

(1/22)
- The teams in 01/02 are great. You'll get to pick players like Ruud, Henry, Euell, Rebrov, Shearer, etc.
- The rules are standard FPL rules with chips etc. The only big exception is that there are no price changes.
- The Gameweeks are on Wednesday and Saturday every week

(2/22)
- There is a live twitter commentary for the Gameweek on the @FantasyChampMan account. These guys love to tease and sometimes get a little sadist. Which i love.
- James from @PlanetFPLPod (assisted by @FplKaptain ) do a live Stream during the Matchdays which is..
