I used to be the lanky guy who hide behind good clothing and his eyeglasses (some will understand).
6' 2"
160lbs
Not good.
I always marveled at how others were able to find motivation to go to the gym.
But I couldn't figure it out... until recently.

When I was a teenager, I went to the the gym for 3 months.
I hated how painful it was to walk the next day after leg day. I hated the pain in my joints
I quit 3 months after because I couldn't find motivation in that pain.
In my early twenties, I grinded.
I was gain weight.
I got to 210 lbs – mostly of fat.
Even though I was going to the gym, I felt like crap because I was eating the wrong things.
I was getting big and strong but at the expense of my health.
I eat at everything that was put in front of me.
My father-in-law started calling me "the cleaner."
Still, to this day he calls me that even though I don't get like a pig anymore.
So I quit the gym once again because I couldn't find the motivation to keep that crappy lifestyle
Today, I've realized that i was seeking motivation in the wrong place.
I thought that motivation was something you had in you or you didn't.
I thought that by getting big and strong i was going to get motivated to go to the gym.
I thought i needed motivation to go to the gym.
But the reality is that motivation is not something that falls on your lap.
It's something that you summon with your actions.
Actions that lead to a better lifestyle without causing too much pain.
Today i lift not to get big, but to become healthier and stay healthy.
I weigh 186lbs with a low body fat.
Some days I don't want to go to the gym.
But I always remember that every time that I put a foot inside a the glorious Temple of weights, pick up one of those 30lb dumbbells, and lift... I get motivated to complete the workout session.
Because, in the end, I know that my mission is not to get big at expense of my well-being.
My mission is to stay healthy and enjoy my time lifting.
And motivation arrives when I take action knowing that tomorrow I'll feel better than yesterday.
I want to thank 4 people who have inspired me to get fit:
