Transitioning out of full time bank management & reflecting a bit on the journey.

Here’s my favorite story I had with a jerk client a few years ago :)

(I’ve since grown as a human & probably wouldn’t do this today..

but he may have deserved it 😉you guys tell me!)

👇👇👇
This super grumpy gentleman walks in his late 40s.
He came in a couple times week & had a complaint every time.

He had filed a complaint before we had too many handicapped parking spots?

I know you know the type :)

That day he walks in & says I want to speak to a manager!!
I say that’s me man come in to my office.

He proceeds to tell me one of my tellers has been stealing from him for months.

I ask which one & he says,
“That black one, she’s a thief.”

My jaw must have hit the floor.
I had one employee that fit that description.
She was months away from her PHD in criminal justice & was my hardest working, highest integrity employee. I had worked along side her for years.

I was not happy to say the least & told him to pick another wording choice & I would go check it out.

Then, a great idea hit me!
At this time I was eating huge carb filled breakfasts
(thanks @_CynthiaThurlow for helping me change this & change my energy levels & life!!🙏)

These carb breakfasts would always leave me bloated & quite gassy :)

So I told the client wait here I need to go talk to her.
I then proceeded to crop dust him as I walked by multiple times & close the door as I left. 💨 💨 💨

I walked over to my tellers & told them that jerk is currently smelling my farts & we all laughed!

I went back a couple minutes later & got him for round 2 as well🔥💨
When I went back in,

I knew that he knew that I knew :)

I told him she wasn’t stealing & he would no longer be allowed to bank with us & closed his account.

As he left my now PHD teller
(you rock Jacqueline if you see this!) said hope it smells better in your next bank :)🔥
I’ve matured & grown quite a bit this last few years & think I would choose a better approach now :)

I do like looking back & smiling on this time tho.

It 100% made our staff a TEAM & everyone knew I had their back over any clients which I think all bosses should do!

3) Get accountability!

“Its amazing how it affects & destroys almost every aspect of your life.
Relationships, depression & loneliness etc.
Porn affects all these things and people don't realize it.”

I saw this & messaged two of my best friends I was done!
Men seeking other men for help is a taboo thing & shouldn’t be!

I told 2 brothers that night, I never thought I had a problem, it was just occasional, all guys did it...

That was a lie,
It was harmful!

I came clean & told them.
It was a weight off my chest!
I wasn’t alone now!
4) You’ll hate this, but if you want to quit, do what it takes.

Tell your wife or S/O.

It’s not easy.
Real men, honorable ones, like you want to become do hard things.

I told my wife the truth.
I wanted her to be the only woman I ever:
-looked at
-fantasized about
-dreamt of

My dads a really smart man.

✅Read a book a week for 30 years!
✅Can fix anything!!
✅Socially strong & networks well!
✅Great leader!

He never moved up in his company.

I recently asked him why & the answer he gave me brought me to tears!!

Man I love my dad ❤️🙏
He told me at 25 he had given up drinking for good.

His father was an abusive alcoholic & he was on the same path until he met Jesus at 24 & I was born :)

He didn’t go to college.
He married my mom at 18 to escape his childhood & at 18.5 they were pregnant with my sister.
He had to grow up fast & took a job at an auto parts store at 18.

He was quickly promoted & promoted again to assistant manager by 20.

At 23 he was promoted to manager & running his entire shop!!

The money was good, but the hours weren’t.
55-60 hour weeks.

I TOLD MY BOSS LAST WEEK I WANTED TO RESIGN FROM RUNNING MY BRANCH & WORKING 45 HOURS A WEEK! 🗣

🧱6.5 years of grinding in the making!!

I’ll never retire, but now I have 25 extra hours a week to CHOOSE what I spend it on!!

Here’s a thread on how we accomplished this!
👇 👇
First off I say WE accomplished this because my wife has been alongside me from day one!!🙏❤️

So young men,

🔥Marry a woman that loves you & wants to spend TIME WITH YOU not just spend your money!!

It’s the biggest decision you make choosing her!
CHOOSE WISELY!!
Dr Billy Alsbrooks said,
“When your WHY for overcoming is greater than the obstacle, that obstacle ceases to exist!”

The moment I got into corporate management my WHY to get out was strong!

I am grateful for the job:
-benefits
-good pay
-home for dinner
-relationships I’ve made

I was asked yesterday on a coaching call how I’m always positive :)

This has been an intentional choice & something I’ve worked hard at for years now!

🙏You can’t be grateful & grumpy at the same time!!

🔥I curate my entire life around positivity.

Strategies I use: 🧵
👇👇
❌I never watch sad movies or horror movies.
If I’m watching movie it’s going to inspire or educate me.

❌I never listen to sad music.
All praise music that floods my soul.
I dance & sing often too :)

❌I don’t follow toxic people.
Only Champs that inspire me on my timeline!💪
❌I don’t follow politics or the news at all.
My wife said on Jan 25th something about President Biden & I had no clue he had been inaugurated 🤷
He’s President now?!

Maybe that’s bad,
but I feel I affect the most change in the world from within myself, my home & my community.

A few years ago we were in a terrible marriage :(

❌Our house wasn’t a home, it was a war zone
❌we didn’t speak days at a time

Last night my wife told me,

“You are my hero, seeing you better yourself every day has made me want to do the same.
Thank you for leading us.” ❤️
-We had said the D word
-All we have almost wasn’t
-My daughter could’ve not had a dad around :(

Men,
it all starts with you!!💪

🔥Take extreme ownership of every area & WIN at your family at all costs!

✅Here’s 17 things that helped us that maybe you can find value in:
Everyones situation is unique
but hopefully you can takeaway something from these

🔥We need loving homes & present strong families now more than ever!

1) Prioritize your family above all else!
This means making a CHOICE to
-watch less TV
-work less
-set boundaries with friends
