2/ Project Sindacato an ambitious, 18-month long probe, targeting what investigators alleged was a clan of the #ndrangheta belonging to the #Siderno Group in #Ontario, has been halted because police improperly monitored interactions between suspects and their lawyers.

3/ Angelo Figliomeni, alleged boss of the Crime family within the Siderno group in Ontario is now a free man, with seized property (including two Ferraris sport cars and expensive bottles of cognac & scotch) is also involved in Op. Canadian Connection in #Calabria, to trial soon

4/ the extent to which the #ndrangheta #SidernoGroup in #Canada is currently under authorities’ radar in both Ontario and Italy (and Western #Australia I might add) made this case particularly important.

5/ it’s not the first time lawyer-client communications cost the police a casa (see alleged mafia boss Leonardo Rizzuto, #Montreal 2018)

6/ this case nothwistanding, Canada remains one of the countries more actively trying to pursue ‘ndrangheta clans today. York Police and Federal law enforcement need to work more closely together and they just might...
