1. The GQP has told us their plans. They intend to take away people's right to vote. Once they succeed the Democracy is over. We have to use all lawful means to stop them. And we've got a doozy.

Almost all Trump supporters have advocated the overthrow of the US. Certainly at
2. least 8 @SenateGOP and over 100 @HouseGOP have. They sent emails, held meetings and sent texts to plan to overthrow the US government by force or violence. The hard part in a prosecution under that statue is to prove it was imminently threatened. The reason nobody
3. ever gets convicted of it is because advocacy of it rarely reaches the planning stage. And how often since 1861 has anyone set on foot to overthrow the Capitol? You have to prove that a violent or forced overthrow was imminent and in almost every case it didn't happen.
4. In Jan 6th case, the action to overthrow was not just imminent, it actually happened. The fact that they were defeated is not relevant to the occurrence that was much more than mere threat on Jan 6. That's where the jury should focus and I think they can all be convicted.
5. But even if they aren't all convicted, we can certainly charge them and hold them. If House members forced to resign Dems will have 320 to 100. More than 2/3. Means when the rebel states elect more Q nitwits Democrats and normal GOP can expel them. And it's all by the rules.
6. If 8 GQP in Senate are charged and held, they'd have to resign or their Governor could not replace them. If they quit the Senate would not change hands except perhaps Kennedy. That's why they had him not vote after the insurrection and that's why both Mitch and Rand kept their
7. mouths shut because those three seats could flip if we locked them up. Needless to say Cruz and Hawley must be charged. The six who voted after the attack will likely be targeted and charge depending on what the investigation shows.
8. I'm guessing Tommy Tuberville and the other rookies said some pretty incriminating stuff. Scott from Florida has certainly seen the light recently. I'm betting he's talked to a criminal defense attorney.

Of course, we could give them a pass so they can try it again.

Cruz says Hogan. Drink.
@tedcruz started out with his typical "I'm so disappointed that they picked a Democrat" BS. Durham is the trigger. My guess is they know that Durham is dirty and is engaged in a political witch hunt. Cruz may know that he's a target and he has to continue to advance his predicate

1. @McFaul. Read the report again. There's a big difference between "kill or capture." Was his kidnapping in Istanbul a US federal crime? I don't think it was. And who taught the Saudis how conduct a rendition? Bush43 that's who. Why would MBS kill him in his consulate?
2. Looking at his killing as simple case of homicide, who had motive and opportunity to do it? Was it someone who would like to make MBS's life a mess? I'm no fan of the Saudi's but MBS was viewed as a reformer and Khashoggi was at best an Al-Qaeda sympathizer.
3. I just grew up in a family with people who did homicide investigations and learned to just do it by the numbers. And the numbers don't add up. Two world leaders had motive and opportunity for the killing. One was easy to fathom. Like playing checkers.

1. Democratic party defector Kurt Schrader may want to start packing. OR5th district is an apparent gerrymander that with the Oregon legislature in solid Democratic control should be easy to hold or even eliminate in light of SCOTUS giving political gerrymanders the green light.
2. Why @RepSchrader would choose to give instant life to a primary challenge is puzzling. I'd watch for a Koch connection and if he did it for money, it may open some options for changing the GQP funding plans with the boss of bosses in a federal pen.
3. Maine's 1st Democrat defection is also puzzling. @RepGolden is in a somewhat GQP leaning district but with solid Democratic control of the Maine legislature and political gerrymanders being the rage this redistricting season, he too deserves watching for Koch cash. If we can

1. Question to my party: If you find out that #Erdogan was actually the person who ordered #Khashoggi be killed & dismembered, will you put sanctions on him & Turkish military? How about boot Turkey from @NATO? @SenateDems @HouseDemocrats @JackieSpeier
2. I'm certain MBS was going to grab him. But you should remember that under Bush43 we made that acceptable conduct. Also, point to a US law that makes that crime enforceable in the US? You all turn your eyes away from Turkey's dictator who was running Yazidi sex slave markets
3. in Gaziantep. You arm his F-16s to bomb Kurds in Iraq and Syria. You love to hate the Saudis but allow the most dangerous person in the Mideast to be treated like an trusted ally even after he brutalizes Americans in DC right under your noses. Sure, MBS deserves punishment.

Oct 2. Khashoggi disappears in Saudi Istanbul Consulate.

Oct 6 NYTimes reports but no mention of bone saw.

2. Oct 9 NYTimes reports "A senior Turkish official said that within two hours of his arrival, Mr. Khashoggi was killed by a team of Saudi agents, who dismembered his body with a bone saw they’d brought for the purpose"

3. I think I recall some airport scanner angle on this but we also know the Turks were recording the killing. How did the Turks get evidence of intent from a diplomatic team?

1. In Hawaii if you're lucky you get to go to one of the top prep schools because you're wealthy. If you smart you may get to go to one when they increase the class size in seventh grade. People try to get their kids in. We did with our boys.
2. I remember the day I took my son for his interview at Punahou, @BarackObama was one of the rare lucky ones who wasn't rich but went there for his entire pre-college education. There are few Black teachers there. One was a well-respected teacher of Hawaiian related courses.
3. He was the person doing the interviews. They first took your kid to a room where they were given an essay to write while they observed. Made sure it was all their work. Then we sat as every other kid went into the room with their parents to meet the interviewer. We were last.
