In the "Great Leap Forward" China's govt set impossible targets for agriculture & industry production.

There were disastrous outcomes for people, but officials kept reporting targets were being met.

If they kept repeating the propaganda they could keep their job & stay safe

I wonder if the judges in these judicial reviews coming to court are getting a feeling of this

...they are finding out that things in the countryside do not reflect the glowing official propaganda

And civil servants are perhaps not doing their job.

In the Keira Bell case the judges expressed "surprise" that the NHS's premier clinic transitioning children had so little evidence to support what they were doing

The judges at yesterday's hearing on prisons were similarly surprised at the lack of any data on the number of transwomen with GRCs in women's prisons

Next week the judges in the census case will hopefully be similarly surprised that the ONS decided against the strong advice of experts, and on the say-so of Stonewall and a few activists, to abandon clear guidance on what "sex" means in the census.

They may be surprised to learn that the passport office keeps no record of the number of people it has allowed to change the sex recorded on their passport with a basic template letter signed by a GP

Justice Swift who is sitting in both the prisons case and the ONS case is previously treasury counsel, said to be "pro-government"

I hope this means he is pro good government

Maybe he will be joining the dots and recognising what he is seeing.
