Talk to any doctor on COVID duty and all are saying reasons must be made public by MHA & LG on why they have discontinued the most successful method of home quarantine for Covid postivecasymptomatic & mild symptom patients 1/n
Doctors say comfortable environment is the best for those who don't require hospitalisation & shifting them will put such patients under unnecessary stress and panic.
Transportation will be an additional problem apart from unjustified load on doctors & medical staff 2/n
Forcing asymptomatic & those with mild symptoms to stay in places with hundreds of other such patients in high virus load areas will actually make them vulnerable to higher levels of infection and travelling will even put those in close contact at higher risk 3/n
Amazing views of Twitter Constitution experts -
Delhi hospitals should be available to all :
* Despite Delhi having been the only govt not to have been given a even penny by central govt in fight against Covid 1/n
* There are equal number of beds in Central govt & Delhi govt hospitals in Delhi.
Despite that
* Centre did not declare any of its hospital as a dedicated COVID facility in the national capital. 2/n
* None of the central govt hospital doctors were provided for duties either at airports when thousands of stranded Indians returned or in Quarantine Centres where nearly three thousand devotees from Nizamuddin Markaz were qarantined 3/n
Data of top 10 states in India in terms of Covid tests per million shows Delhi is testing far more than states having 5-7 times its population including Maharashtra.
Gujarat despite very low testing has the highest fatality rate.
Govts must be criticised, but on facts 1/n :
Facts show no state in India is conducting even half the number of Covid tests as compared to Delhi.
This means the outrage manufactured by those blinded by hatred towards elected Delhi govt had other intentions. Was it to keep private hospitals reserved for the elite ? 2/n
There is no doubt that health sector faces severe shortcomings - but the media instead of providing meaningful information has been indulging in promotion of private sector healthcare even in the midst of an unprecedented pandemic since it caters to rich who can spend 3/n
Came across some very angry tweets and motivated criticism obviously with lack of information based on blind hatred on why @SatyendarJain and Delhi govt released Jessica Lal's killer Manu Sharma ahead of his sentence being completed. Let us look at facts in this thread 1/n :
First of all, govt cannot release any convict. It is the Court appointed Sentence Review Board which has to review the cases for release as put by jail authorities, in this case the Tihar Jail. First of all let us understand what is the Sentence Review Board (SRB) 2/n
SRB comprises of seven members - a district judge, a Joint Commissioner level police officer, Tihar DG, Delhi Home Secretary, Probationary officer, Law secretary & is headed by Home Minister. It sends its recommendations to LG in Delhi's case, since LG is the law & order boss 3/n
BJP's central govt imposed a burden of Rs 100 crore on Delhi by hiking the CBSE claxx X & XII examination fees simply to take revenge from the Delhi govt 1/n
On 22 June 2019, Delhi CM @ArvindKejriwal announced that Delhi govt will pay the full Board exam fees of Class X & XII students of govt schools 2/n
@ArvindKejriwal On 2nd Aug, on directions of BJP's central govt CBSE announced a steep hike in its Board exam fees - from Rs 450 to Rs 1950 for general students & from Rs 125 to Rs Rs 1650 for SC/ST students 3/n
A lot of media friends, including senior editors have asked me why has @ArvindKejriwal headed Delhi govt expressed disappointment at Supreme Court's split verdict on Services & allowing Central control over ACB ? How earlier govts functioned ? I respond in the following thread :
At the core of this issue is Modi govt's May 2015 notification, issued barely three months after people of Delhi had elected their govt with highest ever electoral mandate in history of independent India. Through this notification, Modi govt illegally amended the Constitution
Through this notification, the Modi govt snatched Services and ACB from the elected Delhi govt. Constitution permitted Centre's control on Land, Police & Public Order in Delhi. Modi govt, however, took away another two key sectors of governance from the Delhi govt.
