2/ For all the media intrusion, the British press never actually holds the Royal institution to account: sycophancy plus intrusion pass for accountability. That has to end. Parliament now has to redesign the monarchy...
3/ The tragedy is that only Harry and Meghan looked remotely close to the modern world. Now they're shut out, the institution - like the officers' messes, the Pall Mall clubs, the hedge funds and landed estates it's part of - reeks of prejudice and elitism...
4/ The next Royal Household should be small, live in one palace or castle or country house, it should forego hunting animals as a pastime, and let the rest earn their living and pay taxes...
5/ Johnson's attempt to suspend Parliament during the prorogation crisis shows why you need checks on the Executive but in the event the Crown didn't defend itself: the Supreme Court did...
6/ Plus the monarchy has to get ready for Scottish independence, maybe not this decade but in the next. All the kilt-wearing and shooting birds won't stop Scotland becoming a Republic if it happens...
7/ Finally, the Royal Household should be unionised. That's how you sort out bullying and harassment - get some shop stewards in there, and for that matter a CEO appointed by the Cabinet Office...
8/ If none of this happens, and the Monarchy falls apart into competing factions, under reputational damage from this and Prince Andrew's Newsnight fiasco, while Scotland secedes, the route to an English/Welsh Republic is clear longterm.
