March 13 marks 1 year since Idaho saw its 1st official case of #COVID19. To reflect on the somber occasion, @Stlukeshealth invites you to ring bells/chimes at noon Saturday to acknowledge the events of the past year and the compassion/resiliency our community has shown.
2/ The bells will mark the end of 24 hours of reflection that @StLukesHealth is planning as a way to honor the nearly 1,900 Idahoans who killed by #IDCOVID19, 7,000+ Idahoans hospitalized, almost 173,000 who contracted the virus, & the countless others impacted by the pandemic.
3/ @StLukesHealth invites all churches, synagogues, mosques, fire stations, schools & any others to simultaneously ring bells for 1 minute Saturday. Families, friends & neighbors are also encouraged to step outside & ring bells at noon wherever they are.
4/ For those who prefer a virtual reflection, Saturday morning, @stlukeshealth will provide an online bell ringing post on its social media pages. The post will be designed to easily share, and people are encouraged to repost it at 12 p.m. using the hashtag, #IDCOVID19.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AT @StLukesHealth FOR THEIR #COVID19Vaccine: St. Luke's has a new registry. Patients will no longer need to check back or call repeatedly for an appointment. St. Luke’s will reach out instead. Details on this 🧵:
2/ @StLukesHealth is taking a new approach to how it schedules #COVID19 vaccine appts. Instead of people checking back repeatedly for available vaccination appts, St. Luke’s will reach out to patients on our registry when new vaccine supply has arrived/appointments are available
3/ The change is the direct result of feedback, and is designed to help reduce frustration and save people time. (Thank you to everyone who let us know.)
.@CDHidaho reporting recent wastewater samples submitted from the communities of Boise City, Eagle, and Garden City have identified the presence of the UK and California variants of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
.@CDHidaho says analysis of the samples revealed:
•Low levels of UK variant (B.1.1.7) detected in Boise City/wastewater. This variant accounted for 2% of the virus that was sequenced.
•Low levels of CA variant detected. Accounted for 2% of the virus that was sequenced.
.@CDHidaho says, "Though recent wastewater testing detected low levels of these 2 variants, ID has yet to confirm the presence of the variants among individuals who have tested positive... “yet, we have presumed the variants were circulating in Idaho."
🧵Thanks to everyone reaching out and asking #COVID19Vaccine questions in my DMs. I'm SO HAPPY to see how many of you are eager to get your vaccine. I know getting an appt. has been difficult due to the overwhelming demand. @StLukesHealth made a few changes to help it be easier:
2/ @Stlukeshealth expanded online resources so you can view our #COVID19vaccine supply, administration & efficiency rates. 3rd tab on our #COVID19 data dashboard. Data is updated once a week and represents a specific point in time for the previous week. stlukesonline.org/health-service…
3/ We also took several steps to streamline our appt. processes through myChart and through @Stlukeshealth Connect, so anyone seeking an appointment can quickly get information about appointment availability. (208)381-9500 stlukesonline.org/mychart
🧵We need your help: @Stlukeshealth, along w/ @GovernorLittle, the heads of many Idaho businesses, other hospitals & experts who've worked to suppress COVID-19 are extremely concerned about pending legislation that could reverse the inroads we've made to defeat this pandemic.
2/ Senate Concurrent Resolution 101 would revoke Idaho's emergency declaration regarding the pandemic. @GovernorLittle came out strongly in opposition, saying ending the emergency declaration would make it more difficult/expensive to fight the virus. @StLukesHealth leaders agree.
3/ As members of the health care community, we know that we have a long way to go, but that we can restore elements of the Idaho life we all treasure if we continue to avail ourselves of the practices and resources needed to successfully suppress this virus.
🧵More observations from a @StLukesHealth nurse leader about the #COVID19Vaccine event: "Titles had no meaning. We had doctors standing watch at doors directing traffic, managers wiping down work stations for the next patient, staff standing in the cold directing traffic..."
..."One of the most beautiful things happened: A lady who was so scared of receiving a shot began singing, “You Are My Sunshine,” as the wonderful PA-C administered her #COVID19vaccine. We all began to cry. This lady was so relieved to have hope she sang about it." @StLukesHealth
🧵 CEOs of many of Idaho’s largest employers, representing nearly 40,000 employees, issued the following statement regarding legislative efforts to end the federal emergency declaration, @StLukesHealth included:
2/ @GovernorLittle issued a stark warning about efforts taking place in the Idaho Legislature to rescind the federal emergency declaration for Idaho’s coronavirus response. We join him in opposition of this effort and share his concern for the grave consequences it would have...
3/ ...for Idaho businesses and our employees. We all want to do something - take some action - to move us closer to the normalcy we long for. But this legislation, rather than jumpstarting that transition, runs the risk of causing Idaho companies to fall behind our neighbors...
