🧵 CEOs of many of Idaho’s largest employers, representing nearly 40,000 employees, issued the following statement regarding legislative efforts to end the federal emergency declaration,
@StLukesHealth included:
2/ @GovernorLittle issued a stark warning about efforts taking place in the Idaho Legislature to rescind the federal emergency declaration for Idaho’s coronavirus response. We join him in opposition of this effort and share his concern for the grave consequences it would have...
3/ ...for Idaho businesses and our employees. We all want to do something - take some action - to move us closer to the normalcy we long for. But this legislation, rather than jumpstarting that transition, runs the risk of causing Idaho companies to fall behind our neighbors...
4/ ...and industry peers in our recovery efforts. Many Idaho businesses continue to provide critical services, products, food & jobs to our communities through these difficult times...
5/ ...But the only way our companies are able to do that is by staying focused on supporting the health & safety of our employees. Resources provided by the federal emergency declaration help us do that, & we’re continuing to look to those resources as we plan for vaccinations...
6/ ...and economic recovery throughout our state. The declaration does not shut us down or take away our rights. In fact, the federal support helps keep us open and forging our own path toward recovery...
7/ ... We all want the pandemic to be over, but removing the emergency declaration and the federal support that comes with it will not make that happen...
8/ ... As we begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel, we join Governor Little in asking our legislature to stay the course and keep the structures in place that can help our Idaho businesses, the people they employ, and the families that depend on them.” #idleg #idpol

🧵The winter months are a difficult time for collecting blood, & COVID-19 isn’t making it any easier this year. But cancer patients, expecting mothers, accident victims and countless others are depending on us to keep hospital shelves stocked. @StLukesHealth leaders have an idea:
PLEASE JOIN OUR @StLukesHealth LEADERSHIP BLOOD CHALLENGE! On 2/2, @RedCrossIdaho debuts the challenge on the 14th floor of the One Capitol Center from 9a-3p. We’re asking Boise executives and community leaders to donate blood while challenging their peers to do the same. Image
.@GovernorLittle, a long-time @RedCrossIdaho blood donor, will kick it off by proclaiming 2/2 as “Red Cross Day in Idaho” & will donate blood. @StLukesHealth leaders are hoping you will also donate blood and challenge your colleagues and peers at other companies to do the same.

A friend sent me this letter Idaho’s Lt. Governor and other leaders have signed against any action @CDHidaho might take tonight to protect our community.
Just a reminder that while some people may think that life just needs to continue as normal without taking steps to protect one another, there are people in Idaho DYING every day and exhausted #healthcareheroes sacrificing and doing everything they can to try to save others.
Thank you, @TransitGeekJoe.

Before we all start prepping turkeys & making pies, I just want to take a moment to start a thread to share our collective thanks to all our @StLukesHealth #healthcareheroes who have our gratitude this Thanksgiving. If you would like, please add your own thanks in a comment. 💙
THANK YOU to each COVID19 ICU Nurse who holds the hands of someone's loved one because their families can't be there, even when it's time to say goodbye.
We are grateful to every single @StLukesHealth Environmental Services worker who takes care to clean COVID-19 rooms to ensure patients & staff are as safe as they can be, & to keep all areas in the hospital sanitized.
