"The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF), brought in to replace the funding lost due to Brexit, will not be allocated by the Scottish Government."
Scottish citizens elect @scotgov and @ScotGovFM to manage the strategic allocation of funds for the benefit of everyone in Scotland.
"Instead, Westminster will use the powers outlined in the UK Internal Market Act to allow it to bypass the devolved administrations and spend in devolved areas."
What guarantees exist to ensure appropriate use of funds, given UK Government's track record of cronyism and bribes?
"While within the EU, Holyrood was the managing authority of both the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund (ESF)."
@scotgov and @ScotParl evidently have a proven track record of managing these funds effectively for the benefit of all citizens.
"These European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIs) accounted for more than £780 million of funding between 2014 and 2020, according to the Scottish Government website."
"These ESIs were used to tackle poverty and inequality, increase digital connectivity, improve employment opportunities, and move towards sustainable, low-carbon future, among other things."
Tory definition of 'levelling up' means...don't do anything that shows #LiarJohnson up!
"The central government in Holyrood would pass funds to local authorities, community groups, funding bodies, and enterprise and skills agencies in order to fund initiatives driving towards these goals."
@scotgov performance in these areas is measured & accountable to @ScotParl.
WHO holds #LiarJohnson and UK Government accountable for their failures?
Far too many to itemise!!
"SNP head of communications Murray Foote: this meant “EU funds that previously came to Scotland to be spent on Scottish priorities will now be spent by Westminster Tories on Westminster Tory spending priorities”."
e.g. Bridges, tunnels, aeroplane 'paint job', Brexit festival!
Foote also shared a BBC story about the Tory Government disproportionately funneling money to swing seats ahead of the 2019 General Election, suggesting the funding in Scotland would be used by Westminster to do the same.
Tory 'cash for votes' aka Boris Bungs & Boris Bribes!!
"Philippa Whitford, the SNP health spokesperson at Westminster said the union was like a marriage. She also claimed the UK Government had "locked" Scotland "in a room" and "taken away her chequebook"."
Controversial comment maybe, but it illustrates the UK Government power grab!
"Christine Jardine, Liberal Democrat MP for Edinburgh West said it was an "appalling analogy to use.""
Perhaps, #Jardine obligingly overlooked a Dutch opinion on impact of 'unlawful' Brexit imposed against the will of Parliament; the elected representatives of "the people"!
"Nothing to see here people, move along."
"She told the Express today: "Comparing the Union to domestic abuse is completely and utterly unacceptable and an insult to victims everywhere."
That's the risk taken when interpreting comments out of context - attention is deflected away from key issues to stoke false outrage.
#Jardine and NOT @Dr_PhilippaW is making the incorrect analogous comparison in respect of UK Government's violations of the Devolution agreements and exploitation of Brexit to financially benefit UK Government at expense of Scotland's finances and development.
#Jardine's references to "domestic abuse" in relation to the UK Government's unlawful acts in respect of devolution either: misunderstand the threat to devolution in UK; seek to impose an alternative agenda; or seek to serve some other partisan objective.
"It was a thoughtless insult the first time a nationalist said it and it will be a thoughtless insult the last time they say it."
So, the grievance here, relates to whomever, #Jardine regards as a "nationalist" and there is no issue with anyone else making such a comment! 🤔
Given that the context of "domestic abuse" is incorrect and was not inferred by #Dr_PhilippaW there has been no "insult to victims everywhere."
There are laws, agencies and helplines specifically designed to protect victims of domestic abuse - recognising its' serious nature!
As in legal matters, it is important that politicians and journalists exercise care in choice of words, language and tone.
It is wrong to seek to politicise every issue for partisan political gains since these are generally achieved at the expense of others!
LIFE is NOT a joke!
Did Brexiters not originally describe UK decision to end membership of EU, as a "D.I.V.O.R.C.E."?
How witty, what jolly good fun - anything will do, so long as electorate vote with the elite bankrolling Brexit - regardless of voting away their freedoms and rights! 🐑🐏🐑🐏
Without the bluff and bluster, acquainted with #10DowningStreet, @theSNP tell it as it is...a violation of devolution and a power grab!
Walker began: "Nicola Sturgeon under a bit of pressure, that inquiry she will be giving her evidence today from 9am. Do you agree that she's fighting for her political life today?"
"This has been a much-postponed appearance from the First Minister at the committee she's been very much looking forward to coming in front of them, she'll of course answer all the questions they put to her."
"Her handling of the pandemic has been widely praised and she has fronted-up the challenging public health campaign with competence, commitment and empathy."
"Nicola Sturgeon is rated three times more strongly than Tory leader Douglas Ross and new Labour leader Anas Sarwar. Her intelligence is rated twice as highly as her rivals, as is her understanding or ordinary people, her genuineness, honesty, trustworthiness and charisma."
"Having failed to lay a glove on her, opposition politicians and the anti-SNP commentariat have launched a full-on Trumpist assault, deploying character assassination, wild exaggerations, accusations and conspiracy theories."
@stonesister7@FerretScot I agree, that is one to watch and to be alert to its' motivations and agenda.
@stonesister7@FerretScot I have sensed the undercurrent in devolution and especially 'reserved matters' or more specifically, the current day reinterpretation of these to suit an agenda other than what we are accustomed to, in a democracy.
"GARY Kelly is a well-known stalwart of the Scottish independence movement, but he is a fair-minded sort of guy who wants England to have indy too."
"He applied to the people who run the Petitions website for the Westminster Parliament – you know, the one that promises “consideration for debate” in Parliament if you get 100,000 signatures – mischievously asking them to host a petition calling for “Independence for England”
"...so that our neighbours did not need to keep subsidising Scotland and the rest of the UK."
