Scottish citizens elect @scotgov and @ScotGovFM to manage the strategic allocation of funds for the benefit of everyone in Scotland.

What guarantees exist to ensure appropriate use of funds, given UK Government's track record of cronyism and bribes?

Foote also shared a BBC story about the Tory Government disproportionately funneling money to swing seats ahead of the 2019 General Election, suggesting the funding in Scotland would be used by Westminster to do the same.

Controversial comment maybe, but it illustrates the UK Government power grab!

"Christine Jardine, Liberal Democrat MP for Edinburgh West said it was an "appalling analogy to use.""

Perhaps, #Jardine obligingly overlooked a Dutch opinion on impact of 'unlawful' Brexit imposed against the will of Parliament; the elected representatives of "the people"!

That's the risk taken when interpreting comments out of context - attention is deflected away from key issues to stoke false outrage.

#Jardine and NOT @Dr_PhilippaW is making the incorrect analogous comparison in respect of UK Government's violations of the Devolution agreements and exploitation of Brexit to financially benefit UK Government at expense of Scotland's finances and development.

#Jardine's references to "domestic abuse" in relation to the UK Government's unlawful acts in respect of devolution either: misunderstand the threat to devolution in UK; seek to impose an alternative agenda; or seek to serve some other partisan objective.

"It was a thoughtless insult the first time a nationalist said it and it will be a thoughtless insult the last time they say it."

So, the grievance here, relates to whomever, #Jardine regards as a "nationalist" and there is no issue with anyone else making such a comment! 🤔

Given that the context of "domestic abuse" is incorrect and was not inferred by #Dr_PhilippaW there has been no "insult to victims everywhere."

There are laws, agencies and helplines specifically designed to protect victims of domestic abuse - recognising its' serious nature!

As in legal matters, it is important that politicians and journalists exercise care in choice of words, language and tone.

It is wrong to seek to politicise every issue for partisan political gains since these are generally achieved at the expense of others!
