A Thread.
When Prophet Dawood A.S suddenly faced two claimants who later turned out to be angels testing him.
The two angels came in form of claimants & asked Dawood A.S to judge a case.
Dawood A.S passed the verdict listening only one part of story & not the other.
The angels disappeared & he realised they were angels sent by Allah to test him & he had made a mistake
Dawood A.S used to have a special place where he could be alone to perform his worship. This area was off limits to the public. One night, a strange incident happened. Two people entered that place by climbing over the walls.Dawood A.S was understandably alarmed when he saw them+
The two men told him not to fear. They were claimants, and apparently one had wronged the other, so they wanted to seek Dawood A.S's judgment on the matter.
This story is mentioned in verses 21-26 of Surah Saad in Glorious Qur'an.
They said to Dawood A.S:
“Judge between us, we are in dispute”.
One of them said:
“This is my brother. He has ninety nine sheep (ewes i.e female sheeps) and I have one sheep. He is now forcing me to give up my single sheep to him”. - (Surah Saad 38: 22-23)
So, Prophet Dawood A.S without listening to the other brother said:
“He has undoubtedly wronged you in demanding to add your single sheep to his flock. He should return your sheep to you!”. - (Surah Saad 38: 24)
Once Dawood A.S delivered his judgment, two brothers disappeared into the air. Prophet Dawood A.S realized that these were two angels and that he was just tested by Allah and that he made a mistake — he didn’t listen to both sides of the story before delivering his judgment.
Allah says in Qur'an:
And Dawood became certain that We had tried him, and he asked forgiveness of his Lord and fell down bowing in prostration and turned in repentance to Allah.
"So We forgave him - (Qur'an: Surah Saad 38: Verse 24,25)
Interpretors of Quran talk about this story, they say that Dawood A.S after the mistake was a more better Dawood A.S than before the mistake. In other words, after the mistake he was more wiser and more knowledgeable than before.
It was actually a training session given to Dawood A.S by Allah to ensure proper justice as he was a King and would be faced with such scenarios.
Lesson:
Mistakes can be a great source of knowledge if we derive lessons from them, and learn from them.
