A little thread about how actual #independentbookshops are now providing customers with a viable alternative to Am*z*n! #SmallBusinesses who pay their taxes can supply customers with 500k+ #books to choose from while still supporting bricks and mortar shops 🙏 RT please 1/10

Bookshop.org started in the US of A early last year. Many #bookshops in the USA found it a lifeline to help survive #lockdown. The UK launch was brought forward when #lockdown2 was on the cards in the UK to try to help #indiebookshops in the UK in the same way. 2/10

Customers can order books online from a selection of hundreds of thousands of #books for #homedelivery and nominate a chosen #bookshop to get a cut of the profits (instead of Am*z*n!) 🙌3/10

uk.bookshop.org/pages/store_lo… helps you #choosebookshops and once you have selected your favourite bookshop then the magic world of cookies logs them as your chosen store and they get a cut of the sale – hurrah! 😆4/10

The books are curated and promoted from your chosen #bookseller on their page but are packed up and posted by a large UK wholesaler who has supplied bookshops for 35 years. @bookshop_org_UK
provide a platform/network between the wholesaler, the bookshop and the #bookslover 📚5/10

If you don’t see the book you want in your chosen stores curated list you can use the search function and your bookshop will still get a cut as long as you see their logo as you’re checking out.

The lovely folks at #bookshopdotorg have also created a little profits pool. 10% of every purchase gets added to the pool and all bookshop get an equal cut. 8/10

Wholesalers sell to retailers who sell to the public. That’s how shops work. When wholesalers (like Am*z*n) sell direct to public at the same price shops buy their stock for… shops close, jobs are lost. Bookshopdotorg help #savethehighstreet they've changed the book game.😍 9/10

We’re a small #indiebookshop in the #LakeDistrict and we reopen next month. We can’t compete with Am*z*n. but we now we have a way to share #bookshoplife knowledge, #bookselling #recommendedreads and curate beautiful lists online with our own unique @FredsBookshop spin.🥰 10/10
