Some technical problems at Salmond's launch. Promotional video seemed to stop early. Viewers are not able to hear questions from journalists.
Will be fascinating to see if Salmond makes it on any of the TV leaders' debates. Now that would be explosive.
Seems at first glance unlikely as he has little evidence of electoral support. But if opinion polls in the coming weeks show he is building votes, that may change.
If Alba Party is successful, it could:
1) Challenge Greens for indy-supporters' list votes.
2) Take list seats away from pro-union parties. Meaning a pro-indy majority (which already exists with SNP & Greens) more likely.
3) Mean SNP are biggest party but without no majority.
Plus Salmond entering the election changes the dynamic of the debate on how to achieve independence.
And puts pressure on Nicola Sturgeon to explain what she does if Boris Johnson says no to #indyref2.
SNP responds to @AlbaParty launch by saying Salmond ‘shows no sign whatsoever of reflecting on serious concerns about his own conduct’:
My analysis of Alex Salmond’s return to frontline politics is at the bottom of this piece: news.sky.com/story/alex-sal…
If you are confused by Holyrood’s electoral system, regional lists and what Alex Salmond is up to, here’s my super simple @SkyNews analysis:
