(1) The latest example of stupidity by activists trying to politicize everything, often by referring to race.
Both sides do it! This time it's the MAGA crowd. I don't call them conservatives, bc I'm part of the #PostTrumpGOP trying to save the party from the toxic Trump brand.
(2) The alleged murder happened 4 days ago. MAGA activists have jumped to conclusions iso taking just 10 minutes to find the facts.
It was the DC Met Police who used the term "accident," not particularly CNN.
It was clumsy but it's not unusual for LEOs to use the term.
(3) Read the PD statement below. As usual, the first they heard of the incident was when a bystander reported what he or she thought was a car accident. Only later did the PD find it was an alleged murder and car crash/wreck.
(4) We should know by now that people from all backgrounds routinely use the term accident when it would be fairer to say collision, crash, wreck, incident, etc.
It was even part of the cult classic comedy movie Hot Fuzz in 2007. I enjoyed that part.
(5) That part of the Hot Fuzz movie was one of my favorites because I'm the kind of commentator who is always a stickler for the correct terminology, & I constantly bore my friends with it.
The reason I'm so pissed about THIS case is due to OBVIOUS racist comments like:
(6) Terminology also matters when referring to the history-changing events of 1/6/21.
Sedition, violence, assault, attempted murder, chemical weapons, hate speech, violent threats, death by trampling, work-related PTSD suicides, rioting, security failures, armed insurrection.
(7) Prior to 1/6, for years in fact, I disavowed anyone I saw promoting racism or religious bigotry. Carmine Sabia is a relatively unknown MAGA activist who I had forgotten existed. Any number of them are saying the same things about this case. I saw his tweets randomly.
(8) He referred to the accused as "two piece of shit black teenage girls" & subtweeted another individual saying something similar.
Look, I get angry about alleged murders, too. But I NEVER refer to the accused in such a manner. That's just bc of who I am, and how I was raised.
(9) He also dragged the name of George Carlin through the mud, which folk on both sides routinely do.
None of these "activists" could provide a satisfactory and objective answer if you asked them to define each of the terms they use, such as fascism or political correctness.
(10) Lately this quote has been on my mind (and if you want to learn more about me, start with the thread below.)
"Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity."
(11) Accusing CNN of foul play for using a term from a PD statement is unfair to multiple different groups, incl. the victim, his family, the PD, anti-racists of all stripes, and people from racial minorities.
It's also supremely stupid & harms the interests of conservatives.
(12) The bulk of the harming of conservatives' interests has & is still(!) being done by Trump. But I also lay blame at the feet of his close associates, allies, & GOP elected officials in the US Congress except for the 17 who stood up to him (see the other thread, linked above.)
(13) Also, publishing information about criminal case defendants can lead to them not receiving the level of consequences they would otherwise receive.
It can lead to a mistrial.
And, these defendants are MINORS, which makes such commentary even worse because:
(14) None of you are supposed to be commenting on their race or anything else about them beyond what LE or the courts release.
You don't trust institutions anymore?
Tough luck because you're stuck with them. Your comments don't help fix the problem, either.
(15) There are known domestic terrorist networks that are trying to destroy the American system of government, and law and order in the country.
On BOTH sides.
They got a huge boost on 1/6 bc of who was the sitting POTUS at the time.
(16) I can do this all night. In fact I can do this for the rest of my life if necessary. At my age that's up to 3-4 more decades, godwilling.
Biggs was a Trump associate for years. I saw a photo of the Trump tower watch party on 11/8/2016 that I'm sure showed him there but
(17) Murphy's Law is alive and well because I haven't yet found the photo I thought I had saved somewhere.
My point is this: Former Pres Trump is still spinning a denialist narrative about 1/6. Which is very dumb, because he will eventually be charged with crimes, I am sure.
(18) Think before you speak.
About anything, online or offline. If you see something that angers you, then it's even more important to get your facts straight first.
Everything on the internet survives somewhere.
Be smart.
(19) Update: The name of the victim of the carjacking attempt, Mohammad Anwar is trending.
Folks, let me tell you a bit about how Twitter itself decides which trend to upvote or downvote.
Especially "Trump defenders," you need to know this.
(20) Mr Anwar tragically died four days ago. It's not breaking news.
But liberals who run Twitter want his name to trend rn because it reflects BADLY on the MAGA crowd.
Because the MAGA crowd wanted to politicize his death but ended up falling into a hole of their own making.
(21) Any of your legitimate right wing talking points (on any subject) that you might otherwise be able to get some traction on are being turned around back onto you.
Because of Trump's role in and since 1/6. I tried to warn you but even now you're still not listening.
(22) But, it's only been (almost) 3 months. Early days yet.
I am sure that many former Trump supporters are walking away from MAGA every day. Don't expect folk to shout it from the rooftops like some of us do.
I'm not ashamed, I'm motivated to help others. So is @oliviatroye.
(23) I took my time before deciding to support the Republican Accountability Project, @AccountableGOP.
Because it seemed far too allied with the Democrats. Then I had yet another watershed moment when I saw the latest Trump lies about 1/6:
(24) This is a movement I can get behind:
"We are Republicans & conservatives defending pro-democracy R's, holding accountable those who tried to overturn the election, & fighting against disinformation."
Having done MY OWN extensive online "research" every day since 11/3/20.
(25) If you think I've lost my mind, study the words in this image:
"Trump is defending his supporters who violently assaulted the Capitol on Jan. 6, claiming they posed "zero threat," despite the riot resulting in multiple deaths and injuries as well as property destruction."
(26) The riot resulted in multiple deaths and injuries as well as property destruction. Trump claims that the people involved posed "zero threat."
The stupidity of him saying this is what I find so stunning.
He's, evidently, no genius nor does he appear particularly stable.
(27) Every homicide is a tragedy. I don't feel the need rn to focus on the race of the victim or perpetrator each time. There are larger scale, urgent issues concerning the rule of law, & (domestic) national security. IMO they implicate Trump & his allies, not esp. Democrats.

(2) Gotta say I am rather unimpressed by Mary Norwood. Either say you're a Trump supporter or not. It's pretty simple.
How in the world you expect to get elected to anything in ATL in future is beyond me.
So many people have aligned themselves with Sidney Powell. Not smart.
(3) Regarding the GA state speaker's letter to the ATL Mayor about street crime there... yikes. Both politicians are missing the point but at least the Mayor doesn't align herself with those who condone domestic terrorism, AFAIK.
(2) I've been thinking about American politics since the early 1980s, before I even went to high school. Also British, New Zealand, and Australian politics.
I ended up entering the NZ political world as a policy analyst and PR advisor after earning a political science degree.
(3) After some years I became so frustrated with the way things were going in my chosen profession that I walked away from it.
Now I share my opinions here & feel completely unencumbered in that. It's good for the soul to express yourself, test your ideas & learn from others.
Because they have been trying to get the Biden administration to keep it's transparency promise by allowing reasonable oversight access to federal sites, to allow Congress to do its job.
The Trump admin allowed Ds & media access.
(3) And are you saying the level of attempted illegal immigration at the Southern Border right now is NOT a humanitarian crisis?
Or is it easier to focus on the choice of one word, "heckled"?
Democrats, you would get far more political mileage out of this incident if you understood the context of the GA exec branch's security concerns in relation to 1/6.
The threat they are justifiably trying to manage is from the Qanon MAGA crowd. Info about that below.
GA is, unfortunately, home to some of the most violent & seditious elements among the MAGA movement, Qanon, & those arrested for rioting on 1/6.
Gov Kemp's daughter had been dating Harrison Deal for 2 years & was likely to end up marrying her.
He tragically died in Dec 2020.
I'm not saying the arrest today had anything to do with a specific security threat. I'm saying that law enforcement charged with keeping a governor safe would be on high alert given events of recent months. Trump publicly harassed & lied about Kemp for weeks. Kemp kept his cool.
(1) Short thread (I promise) about the pilot rant caught on a hot mic while in the cockpit.
As funny as this is, he's now in trouble with authorities bc as he should know, he breached safety regulations, which are there good reason. Here's why.
(2) I would laugh whether it was a liberal pilot ranting about conservative culture or a conservative pilot ranting about liberal culture. I don't care about the topic.
As the smarter among my readers know, I care about safety.
(3) When a pilot does something like this, he or she reveals a lack of professionalism, and insufficient concern for the safety of everyone on the aircraft.
And, even above 10,000 feet, what you say ends up on the cockpit voice recorder, too.
