As the push to vaccinate as many Americans as possible against #COVID_19 picks up steam, questions about the shots’ safety have often hindered the campaign.
Is there anything to worry about?
Experts say there is almost zero cause for concern.
Scientists use several methods to look for potential warning signs that vaccines, whether for flu or COVID-19, are causing serious side effects or death.
A tool in this effort is a government database known as the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System.
VAERS data can help reveal unusual or unexpected outcomes related to vaccines.
So far, no such signs have emerged for the #COVID_19 vaccine. Researchers have detected very rare cases of anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening allergic reaction.
“It means your body is appropriately responding to your vaccine and generating an immune response,” said Dr. Nicola Klein, director of the Kaiser Permanente Vaccine Study Center.
Lori Matsumura was stunned when she found out this week about an EBay auction of 20 pencil sketches that the seller claimed were from a Manzanar artist.
Her grandfather, Giichi, used watercolors to document life at the Manzanar War Relocation Center where he and his family were incarcerated during World War II.
Each sketch was signed “Matsumura” in block letters.
The starting bid was less than $70.
“I don’t have the drawings in my hands, but it looks like my dad’s writing,” Lori said. “I was sad that they were trying to sell this artwork. No, it angered me.” latimes.com/california/sto…
