The Prime Minister has announced there will be a new advisory for the AstraZeneca vaccine for persons under the age of 50, following blood clot concerns.
The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has recommended people under the age of 50 should be offered an alternative to the AstraZeneca vaccine after a link was found to rare blood clots.
The ATAGI recommendations are the following: At the current time, the use of the Pfizer vaccine is preferred over the AstraZeneca vaccine in adults aged less than 50 years who have not already received a first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine.
