Hydrofluoric acid. Bad stuff. publicintegrity.org/environment/ch…
"#Fluoride occurs in drinking water primarily as free fluoride. When ingested some fluorides combine with hydrogen ions to form hydrogen fluoride (HF), depending on the pH of the contents of the stomach (2.4% HF at pH 5; 96% HF at pH 2)."
"HF easily crosses the gastric epithelium, and is the major form in which fluoride is absorbed from the stomach"

"The numerous #fluoridation studies in the past failed to rigorously test for changes in GI symptoms and there are no studies on drinking water containing fluoride at 4 mg/L in which GI symptoms were carefully documented." #FluorideFriday pain in the gut for #StannousFoilHats.
"When above normal amounts of fluoride are ingested, the fluoride combines with hydrochloric acid in the stomach and forms hydrofluoric acid. ..."
" ... As a result, the hydrofluoric acid has a burning effect on the gastric lining causing gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping, and discomfort." rdhmag.com/patient-care/r…
"High concentration fluoride reacts chemically with gastric acid (hydrochloric acid) in the stomach to form hydrogen fluoride." ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…
Pretty damning paper. Precautionary principle, anyone? Anyone??
How about now? Advocating for the addition of indiscriminate amounts of #fluorine to the diet of human beings is unconscionable.
At this time of the novel virus pandemic, the last thing anyone needs is inhibition of antibody formation. Do populations with high rates of consumption of #fluorine suffer more from COVID-19?
Humoral immunity is important.
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32430094/
The United States is the most heavily hit.
In 2018, 73.0% of the US population on community water systems, or 207,426,535 people, had access to fluoridated water. Diminished humoral immunity and fluoridation. Horrifying to think...

What's that gang? You say it is #FluorideFriday? Why yes, yes it is! -|- "#Fluoride is highly effective at preventing caries and its use over the last 50 years has transformed dental health.” irelandsdentalmag.ie/fluoridation-t…
Ireland again. -|- "In 2002, a ‘north-south’ survey showed a substantial decline from 1984 in dental caries in both fluoridated and non-fluoridated communities in the Republic of Ireland, and in the non-fluoridated population of Northern Ireland."
"Reducing the underlying cause of disease through the restoration of normality, rather than adding a protective factor, is a more radical approach, and does not come with the risk of unwanted effects such as dental fluorosis.”

Another difference between now and then. Concern with using supplements of #fluorine, in addition to #fluoridation, is today no longer a concern, or talked about much. And it is #ThrowBackThursday, #fumblethumbs
