Chaired the 51st meeting of the Executive Board of National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) today.
Expressed my satisfaction about the progress made in the promotion of the Urdu language. Many efforts have been made to improve the promotion of Urdu language since 2014, in comparison to the period between 2009-2014.

The number of students pursuing the one year diploma course in Urdu language has gone up to 493981 in 2015-2020 from 298595 in 2009-2014. For Diploma & Certificate course in Arabic & Persian language, there were 505 centres in 2009-2014, which went up to 873 in 2015-2020.
In the same time, no of students for Diploma & Certificate course in Arabic & Persian also went up by 118489. Financial assistance for promotion of Urdu, Arabic & Persian increased from 788 to 1662 for seminars, 1396 to 2357 for books' bulk purchase, 556 to 1166 for manuscripts.

Also gave instructions that Urdu Council should work on propagating #NEP & reach out to people involved in speaking Urdu. Partnerships for promoting Arabic & Persian should be taken by having tie-ups with countries & organisations promoting these languages.

While applying for JEE(mains), candidates have to select any four cities of their choice. The efforts will be made to allot the city of examination to the candidates in order of choice opted by them in their online Application Form.
However, due to administrative/logistic reasons, a different city can be allotted.
Candidates who apply for more than one Session of the JEE Mains exam can change their choice of cities in the correction window, which will be opened in due course under intimation to them through a public notice for each session.

Keeping in mind the various suggestions/requests received from aspirants of JEE Mains across the nation, it has been decided to conduct JEE Mains 4 times in a year (Feb, March, April, & May). I announced the dates for the same today.
The 1st JEE Mains will be conducted between 23-26 Feb. Session 2 of the exam will take place between 15-18 March. For April, the exam will be held between 27 & 30. Students can give the final attempt from 24-28 May.
This will give multiple opportunities to candidates to improve their scores in the exam if they are not able to give their best in one attempt. I am certain that it will also reduce the chances of dropping a year & droppers would not have to waste a full year.
