/ Yesterday was my last day working in the #NHS. I loved my job and my team but we need to stop normalising working for stat services being a lifestyle choice and not just a job. We deserve a life outside of work too. (a thread)
/ The NHS recruits the best people. Passionate people who care about others. With the best values. And they give their heart, their soul and their life to their work because of that. They will do what it takes to keep their NHS and the people they support afloat.
/ this year I learnt it doesn't matter. It will never be enough. They will see you suffer, pat you on the back (or give you a clap) and tell you to crack on. It doesn't matter how resilient you are (though they'll make you think it does), how much you care or how hard you work
/ It doesn't matter how high up you go for support because everyone is in the same boat. And while a pay rise would be nice it's actually not what we need. That would be a sticking plaster for our bigger problems.
/ We need to be told we are enough. We need more staff. We need more resources. We need more rest, we need our weekends back, our annual leave, our lives. We can't care for others without caring for ourselves first.
/ It was the hardest decision of my life to leave because I believe so much in our NHS and I wanted to fight for it and I gave what I had until I couldn't do it anymore
/ Now more than ever after this pandemic I worry for our NHS and if we want to keep it we have to change our culture, and I think that means changing our government
/ I'm not sure if I'm leaving forever or just taking a break but my views on this will always be the same. In community #CAMHS I had a caseload of 87. It's not OK, it's not normal. It's people's lives.
/ We can never be #traumainformed without looking after our staff. And giving our society the systems it needs to thrive. Good #socialcare Sure Start centres, a good benefits system that props up those that need it. Don't rely on statuary services to pick up the pieces.
/ So don't patronise us. Don't give us a clap. Don't tell us you care. Listen to us. Change the system or lose us. This is an empassioned plea #VoteLabour #NHS #mentalhealth
