Amritsar | Five patients have died at the hospital. We are facing an oxygen shortage for the last 48 hours. The administration is saying that oxygen will not be given to private hospitals before government hospitals: MD, Neelkanth Hospital
Amritsar's Neelkanth Hospital authorities should have brought the matter of oxygen shortage to the notice of the Administration. An inquiry committee has been set up to investigate the matter: Punjab Minister OP Soni
Taking serious notice of incident at Neelkanth Hospital, Health Minister BS Sidhu today instructed Director, Health & Family Welfare Dr GB Singh to submit the report within 2 days. He assured that stern action to be taken against erring authority if any laxity at their part.
The Health Minister said that a committee has been constituted by the District Administration to ensure the scrutiny of the incident.

To increase medical oxygen capacity of Delhi, eight Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) Oxygen Generation plants are being installed with the support of PM CARES Fund. These plants would enhance the capacity of medical oxygen by 14.4 metric tonnes: Government sources

Under the direction of Union Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Public Sector Undertakings, under the Ministry of Steel & other private companies in the steel sector are continuing their best to supplement efforts of Govt in making available Liquid Medical Oxygen: Govt of India
Total daily Medical Oxygen production capacity of Steel plants is 2834 MT. In Steel sector, there are 33 oxygen plants of which 29 tapped regularly. As against 2834 MT of daily LMO production capacity in the Sector, the production of LMO is 3474 MT as on 24th April: Govt of India
This is higher than LMO production capacity because most units have reduced the production of Nitrogen & Argon & only producing LMO. 2894 tonnes were dispatched to different states on 24th April by Steel Plants as against 1500/1700 Metric Tonnes /Day a week earlier: Govt of India

In line with PM’s direction of boosting availability of oxygen to hospitals, PM CARES Fund has given in-principle approval for allocation of funds for installation of 551 dedicated Pressure Swing Adsorption Medical Oxygen Generation Plants inside public health facilities: PMO Image
PM has directed that these plants should be made functional as soon as possible. These dedicated plants will be established in identified Govt hospitals in district headquarters in various States/UTs. The procurement will be done through Ministry of Health and Family Welfare: PMO
The basic aim behind establishing PSA Oxygen Generation Plants at Government hospitals in the district headquarters is to further strengthen the public health system and ensure that each of these hospitals has a captive oxygen generation facility: Prime Minister's Office (PMO)
