By the time I'm out of observation it'll have been over 4 hours to get vaccinated.
Some tips
Carry a small umbrella. If a hospital has supplies there will be long lines. Mostly on the road or in unsheltered compounds. It's hot. I reached before 9 and stood in line till noon.
Carry a water bottle. Maybe even a sandwich or some dry fruit if you have senior citizens with you.
Many hospitals are providing wheelchairs for the aged but obviously in limited quantity.
Light clothing, face wipes, hand sanitizer will help you keep your sanity in the sun.
I had to visit two hospitals before a family friend alerted that the hospital she was in had vaccine supplies.
So network with friends and family as the supply situation is very fluid.
People are lining up as early as 5am. Some hospitals are handing out tokens. One I went to at 9.30 am said in the first 30 mins all tokens had been handed out corresponding to the day's supplies.
What about tomorrow, I asked the front desk lady. She said not sure of supplies.
Obviously I tried first booking an appointment on CoWin but no slot available at all.
So be prepared for hit and miss stuff. If you are with family/friends, maybe break up and try a few hospitals simultaneously.
And finally.
Indians don't understand social distancing. We crowd lines, gates, counters as if that will move things faster. 🙄
Don't be shy in politely requesting people to maintain distance.
It would be quite pointless if you get infected while trying to get vaccinated.
PS: Thank all the frontline workers you interact with. Police, hospital staff, nurses. They have a bloody difficult job. And a thankless one.
And if you are eligible for a vaccine. Get it done. Now.
Oh and yes one more thing.
Double mask. It's not easy for everyone I know. Many aged people in the line with struggling with one mask. Some others were just careless and were chatting with their masks at chin level.
So if you can...double mask.
I should point out...in many hospitals there is a separate line for second jabs (senior citizens). And it moves faster.
My mum got done in about 2 hours from start to finish.

The Rs 97,000 crore twist in #GST Compensation Cess Case
The constitutional amendment states that compensation shall be provided to the States
"...for loss of revenue on account of implementation of the goods and services tax..."
The centre has interpreted this narrowly...
The centre estimates Rs 3 lakh crore payable to the states as compensation this fiscal.
Due to low tax revenue collection it expects to face a compensation cess shortfall of Rs 2.35 lakh crore.
But it attributes most of this to Covid and claims the loss due "implementation of GST" (see constitutional amendment in first tweet) is only Rs 97,000 crore.
It computed this based on previous shortfall data.
