Honestly, it’s not the best. It talks about what experts are saying but only provides antidotes but no real source-able facts.

We went looking for the facts and came upon this.

And now let’s take those facts and do some basic and I mean basic epidemiological math. We will ppls be using Michigan as an example because like other states, they are tying opening up to vaccine rates or “Herd Immunity”.

The Michigan facts:

Now the math.

According to Michigan’s opening up plan, they are basing it on 70% of the population above 16 getting their first or only COVID shot. Not counting ppl that have had COVID and think they don’t need the vaccine.

For maths sake we will say the population we are dealing with that these numbers is based on is 7,500,000.

70% of 7,5 million is 5,25 million people.

Keep that 5,25mill in mind.

In all the years the CDC has been tracking vaccine uptake, 80% of the population regularly gets a required for normal life vaccine. 80 FUCKING %!!!!! A 2 dose vaccine sadly drops to 30% uptake but we are not focused on that.

So what is 80% of Michigan’s population above 16?

6mill.

What do they need to meet a full open enrolment?

5,25mill.

Now if you scroll up to that article we linked to with 1 in 5 Americans refusing to get the vaccine.

You know what 1 in 5 maths to?

20%

You know what that leaves?

80 FUCKING % OF THE POPULATION THAT HAS HISTORICALLY GOTTEN VACCINES. ALLOWING US TO POTENTIALLY MEET HERD IMMUNITY.

Now this is, as I said basic, basic math and even I’m in the not going to make it camp but the math still says it’s possible and you should ask those putting out stats and facts to put them into context.

So, the moral of this story is, the next time a whiney bitch says it’s all locked down I can’t do anything. Tell them the power to open up is in their “arm”. And stop buying into this sky is falling routine because 1 in 5 sounds scary, when it’s always the same fuckers.

I’m going to start this thread by asking you to think back way beyond what you had for breakfast. All the way back to me bitching about low trial size.

My concern then was that we did not have enough ppl enrolled to truly find the weird stuff (J&J had their EUA based on 22k trial participants).

Fast forward to today!

We have finally reached enough ppl in the vaccine trial to find the weird stuff.

It’s Tuesday and that means tacos & talking shit. For today’s #Thread 🧵, I’m going to go full cable show talking head on the @AstraZeneca vaccine. (This is a complete opinion thread but you better bookmark it. I have a feeling I’m spot on in my analysis.)

Yesterday, it was all over the news that #AstraZeneca was going to release its trial data and that it looked “GREAT!”. And by great that meant on a 2 shot vaccine it protected 100% against death and sever hospitalization and had a ~79% efficacy rate (Which is just above J&J).

For contrast the J&J is ~75% effective on one dose with the same 100% prevention of death and hospitalization. On the face of it, you think they are the same.
