So let’s see:
•limited enforcement of laws flouted by libertarian aggressors
•blind eyes to increasing violence towards visible minorities
•ignored protests with tiki torches
•allowed travelling saboteurs (Sloan & Bernier) advocating anarchy
•premier pandered to this base
Worried yet?
Or are you still in denial that fascism is running this province?
Are you buying Kenney’s victim routine?
I’m not.
The people Kenney has been protecting since covid started are the people he’s accusing of death threats. This claim is ludicrous.
Part of stochastic terrorism is desensitizing the public to threats of extreme violent behaviour. Threats of violence as a solution to effect the change the far right wants are normalized when repeated often.
The far right white supremacist fringe & substantially rural based Dominionist Christian Nationalists are the majority of the UCP base voters. That’s been apparent since before UCP was elected to govern.
They are also a disproportionate number of MLAs. About 50 out of 67 are far right ideologues and/or Dominionist Christian spiritual warriors.
Recently, Rebel News personalities, the confirmed racists, xenophobes & misogynists, pivoted to support Dominionism & ban covid orders.
Note how Bexte casually underplays a threat.
I’ve observed cons & the more radical secessionists for awhile.
What new country? Wouldn’t that require secession? A minority would need to use force to create a new country. They are the minority as evidenced by several polls.
It’s no secret that O’Toole, Ford and Kenney have been suffering popularity issues. The electorate that sit on the liberal/conservative centrist fence have moved away from supporting these leaders fearing extremism.
Because of this phenomenon, conservatives are using reverse psychology to win the support of the fence sitters back.
It will probably work.
Ford, O’Toole and Kenney have all put the demonstration of empathy or sympathy at the forefront of their recent rhetoric.
Some of us have become aware of conservative emotional manipulation.
If you believe Ford is contrite, O’Toole is a moderate or Kenney’s life has been seriously threatened, I’ve got ocean front Alberta property to sell you. (AB is landlocked~ but ignore that detail).
Suddenly, after decades of ideological stability, Ford, O’Toole and Kenney have abandoned their faithful adherence to paleolibertarian ideology to “do the right thing?” 🙄
The notion is absurd. Give your head a shake. Honestly. Far right doesn’t abandon beliefs, they gaslight.
Kenney religiously panders to the far right libertarians & Christian fundamentalists.
He himself IS one of those fundamentalists who has NOT changed. Nor will he in his lifetime. He’s committed to his toxic beliefs & values. His May 4/21 covid orders demonstrate that clearly.
Watch what they do, not what they say.
Character is judged over time. Not statement by statement, move by move.
The best indicator of future behaviour is past behaviour. Most of the time.
Here’s a rudimentary checklist forensic psychologists use to predict behaviour.
Alberta has the worst covid infection rate in North America.
We are in that position because of UCP policies. But we are supposed to believe Kenney has had a sudden change of heart? A “come to Jesus” moment? 🙄
Kenney’s continued refusal to lockdown Alberta isn’t just pandering, he’s responding to Alberta’s “unique culture” of hard right libertarians.
This is Kenney assisting the extremists and their secessionist agenda to gain support, not a “coming to his senses” moment.
Paleolibertarians use consequentialist ethics to rationalize gaslighting & cruelty. albertandp.ca/7-worst-and-we…
Kenney has a long history of sadistic callous policy.
From blocking gay partners from dying AIDS patients, to refusing Roma asylum seekers, to removing refugee healthcare.
O’Toole has been plagued by low support and voter confusion whether he represents moderate or radical conservatism.
O’Toole is a devout Catholic that was chosen leader as a more obvious “Strongman” needed to assure Dominionist paleolibertarians their agenda was safe but covert.
Public exposure of a social conservative agenda has left the more moderate CPC voter unsure if they can support the party.
Therefore, much effort has been made to brand O’Toole as moderate.
Climate plan mere days after CPC conference denying climate change ring any bells?
Ford. He allowed thousands of seniors to suffer inhuman treatment and die the first AND second wave of covid. Autism supports withdrawn, took 5 months off to rehabilitate his image. And now musters tears of contrition and empathy. Yep, I totally believe he’s sincere! 🙄🤦🏻♀️
Fascists don’t announce that they’re fascists. Paleolibertarianism(a toxic mix of far right libertarianism mixed with radically extreme religious faith and xenophobic nationalism) is masquerading as conservative. The entire premise of conservatism in Canada is a lie.
Incrementalism is the tool used to introduce and normalize repugnant and objectionable beliefs and values.
Political distancing from firebrand extremists while permitting them to disseminate their toxic propaganda is how fascism works.
It’s how people are radicalized.
Create a sense of normalcy and social acceptability for flying Nazi flags, attacking Muslim women in brought daylight, protecting abusive covid deniers from consequences, secretly suppressing police enforcement, refusing Ft. Mac assistance until public outrage is unbearable.
That’s the most recent behaviour from Alberta premier.
It is not a surprise nor inconsistent with the ideology of UCP.
Remember, Kenney used a kamikaze candidate to win a leadership election.
He uses ultra far right to normalize desensitization to violence & intimidation.
So does O’Toole and so does Ford.
Fascism is gradually introduced through manipulation of social norms.
Fascism and the accompanying dehumanization of human beings is happening. Whether you choose to acknowledge it or not.
A Nazi flag isn’t surprising. The fact it’s taken the presence of a flag for the public to take notice is not normal. It’s alarming.
Individual UCP MLAs have quietly supported Nazi flag owners for decades. Now they are implementing policy consistent with those beliefs.

@tomwatson The pandemic, and its exacerbation, have been harnessed by far right politicians to inflict trauma for precisely that reason. To produce widespread ongoing mental anguish.
Our senses are overwhelmed. We’re isolated, longing for human contact, like our DNA wiring demands.
@tomwatson As described by Timothy Snyder, the aim is to discombobulate, drive home governments can’t help you, and infliction of violence on others is your only choice to feel any sense of free agency. While the powers that be take control.
Sometimes I wonder if it’s conservative’s way to discredit academia and expertise all in one shot. Convince academics to sell out every ounce (grams of your metric) of integrity to push disinformation for political gain of far right political parties.
Many will read Michael Geist’s opinion and not read the actual bill being proposed.
They’ll trust his assessment without checking themselves. Believing he’s non partisan and has years of expertise and experience.
How about you arrest and incarcerate the insurrectionists before you ask Canada to reopen the border. We don’t need any more extremists than we already have thank you very much.
It’s not you, it’s your domestic extremism problem that is clearly out of hand. It’s your Pentagon, Senate and Congress that’s harbouring seditionists and traitors. Your out of control social media and penchant to allow hate speech as free.
It’s already influenced enough of the Canadian citizenry for my liking. And most of the Canadian electorate agrees.
How about you tone down the toxic rhetoric coming from far right conspiracy theorists and over zealous progressive left libertarians?
But it’s not irrational. It’s fuelled by fear of being theon back into abject poverty and another 150-200 years of suffering for their children and all future generations.
And that’s if there are future generations.
CPC and Canadian conservatives are committed to imperialism.
That’s the central narrative of Canada.
Canadians are perceived to be willfully ignorant and providing tacit approval to continue the elimination of any hope for indigenous people, the transfer of wealth to white wealthy conservatives and/or corporations and cultural divisions.
This isn’t journalism. It’s gawking at human imperfection.
Do human beings have real life problems and also work for the public service? Yep they do. Because public servants are actually real people.
Are people employed in private sector just as plagued by real life issues?
Yep they are. Which is why we have employee assistance programs, in both the public and private sector.
Substance abuse, relationship issues, health problems, mental health, dying relatives, and an assortment of other real life issues impact people who work.
Sorry Garnett, Nazi’s were NOT socialists. In fact the first people they murdered in concentration camps were communists and socialists. Martin Niemoller made a famous speech which Christian homeschooling may have glossed over.
History is well documented. Pushing a book by a prominent Republican revisionist of history whose effort to establish a mythical past about American exceptionalism is characteristic of fascist behaviour.
