There is a tradition in Akwa Ibom and Cross River State called “Ekpo Nka Owo.” People in this states believe that if you cheat on your husband, during childbirth, the lanour will be prolonged and the baby and mother will be killed by the deity called Ekpo Nka Owo 
Ekpo Nka Owo literarily means Deity of Adultery. Women suspected to be in this situation are usually asked to mention the names of all the men they slept with and confess to their husband a free which a fetish rite is carried out to appease the deity before the woman can deliver
The people believe so strongly in this tradition and usually those women are prohibited from going to the hospital.
For labour to proceed smoothly, the passage(birth canal), passenger(baby) and power(mother) must be optimum.

The woman should be taken to the hospital where interventions like CS can be carried out.
