Do you know what's the ONE thing stopping you from making money from your email list?
It's your OWN perception
Here's what I mean...🧵
What I'm about to tell you doesn't depend on:
- How good your copy is
- How great your product is
- How pretty your template is
Although that has its deserving impact, you can still drive MORE sales with this ONE tweak alone.
Let's all agree that there's only ONE thing that earns you consistent money via email:
- Promoting your product sales page or your service
And there are only TWO ways to drive more traffic:
• Promote your product more often
• Write more emails
So with that in mind why:
- Don't you have a schedule for emails?
- Don't promote your offers more often?
In my opinion, because you have the wrong mindset.
The one that thinks:
"If I send too many emails people will get sick of me"
"If I promote too much people won't open"
And I don't blame you.
Because this IS TRUE, but ONLY if you do it the wrong way:
- You send too many emails that people have no interested in reading
- You only promote your products and give nothing back in return
The email marketing SIN is boredom, not volume
That's what a lot of Ecom stores do.
And that's fooling you into believing that the way people THINK about others emails is the same way you think about emails you don't care about reading.
Take Ben Settle as an example.
He writes a daily email.
He promotes in every email.
And he has one of the most engaged lists on the email / copywriting space.
WHY?
Because his personality is addictive.
The content is interesting.
And he's not pushy on the offers.
He claims not to be an affiliate marketing "expert"
Yet he consistently outperforms people with:
- Bigger lists
- More expertise in affiliate marketing
He's the dream for any product owner he affiliates for.
Let's move to the white board and do some MATH.
Imagine you send a weekly email to 5000 people
You have a 30% open rate and a 5% click rate.
That means: 1500 open your emails and 250 click on what you promote.
Not bad right?
That's 6.000 opens and 1.000 clicks a month
Now, let's be conservative and assume you would lose numbers if you send more emails (which might actually NOT be true)
You send 4 emails/week with 25% open rate & 3% click rate.
That means you get 1250 opens and 150 clicks per email
That's 20.000 opens and 2.400 clicks/month
That's a 233% increase in open rates.
And a 140% increase in click rate.
And it costed you exactly 0 dollars to do so.
How much more $$$ would that bring for your business?
- Probably a lot, especially because it would all be PROFIT.
Two questions might come to your mind:
1. What do you write about 2. How many emails should you send
🔑1. Content generating
I have my 4-pillars for content creation:
• User-generated content (feedback, questions from readers & customers)
• Stories you can tie back to your product
• Educational content
• Straight selling (useful at the end of a discounted/bonus campaign)
Your goal with your emails is always to push your sales forward.
And don't be afraid to gently make a call-to-action to your offers at the end of each email.
If people like what they read, they'll want to follow through.
And even if they don't, you're not hard-pitching them.
Your emails should be a combination of:
- Entertainment
- Information
Or infotainment as someone coined (don't know who)
Don't forget that negotiation and sales is more emotional than it is logical
🔑2. Email frequency
If you're only sending one email a week, try with two.
You don't need to increase by a lot.
If you're managing an ecom store: 2/3 weekly emails
If you're a content creator: 4/7 weekly emails
• Promote one product a week
• Find a way to add urgency
And that's it.
Here's a TL;DR:
1. Sending more emails & promoting more often will increase profits 2. Don't send emails people don't want to read 3. Have a personality and an entertaining writing tone 4. Generate content through customers, stories, information & sales pitch
