I reviewed 200 SaaS landing pages in the last 12 months 👀💪

The best was @popdotwork. Here's why 🧵

1️⃣ Benefits focus in the Hero section:
2️⃣ Embedded sign-up form in the landing page, removing friction / the need to load another page to begin signing up.

This also collects emails from people who go on to abandon sign up funnel.
3️⃣ Clear signposting around the CTA element to remove doubt and explain what is coming next.
4️⃣ Strong, visual social proof above the fold - critical for increasing conversion 🔽✅
5️⃣ Use of plain, simple language to increase comprehension which is proven to improve conversion

(See the @unbounce annual reports on SaaS conversion)
6️⃣ Using an abstract image of the product to relay how it works.

Try this instead of a screengrab, which may be overwhelming and not capture your critical product functions or flows.
7️⃣ It talks *directly* to the potential buyer and uses power words like you / your throughout.
8️⃣ Your visitors don't want to have to think how your product can help them.

So @popdotwork highlights use cases by different buyer persona 💪💪
A quick side-note.

🚨 I email a free weekly video teardown of a SaaS, ecommerce or newsletter landing page.

9️⃣ Testimonials are great.

To make them amazing:

Include the company name, person's name, and person's job title.

Make them short, focus on your benefits.

Ensure they're from people like your buyer.
1️⃣0️⃣ Create urgency by saying or showing what will happen if the user doesn't act.

I LOVE how @popdotwork do this. Watch how 📹
1️⃣1️⃣ Build pain by agitating your visitor - yes, really.

1️⃣2️⃣ Share your product and company beliefs so that people can subscribe to them.
Read this next: Here's why agitating your visitor can increase landing page conversion 😱

1️⃣3️⃣ Remember some visitors aren't ready to sign up.

So have a soft conversion event - like a lead magnet to download, and nurture your leads.

Here's how.
1️⃣4️⃣ Go full circle. The visitor is at the end of your landing page.

Give them a final chance to sign up by featuring your CTA.

Sometimes being a solo founder really fucking sucks
Especially when you’re having a shitty day and there’s no one to share it with, logistically or emotionally
I’ve been working 12 hour days, 6 days a week, for 5 weeks

I’m making 1/5 what I did freelancing

And it just feels so thankless and lonely

Here's 16 ideas to increase your landing page conversion:
1. Have one goal

50% of landing pages had multiple, often equally prioritised, call-to-actions.

Focus your page on one key conversion event like @gumroad Image
2. Focus on your USPs

You know them, so where are they on your landing page?

Contrast your product with competitors and the current way of doing things, like @typeform Image

.@basecamp has an amazing landing page hero.

Most critically they don't just define the buyer's problem. They use emotional language to AGITATE the visitor and increase the desire to solve it.

Plus a few other nice ideas I've annotated. Image
.@Sleeknotecom use humour and a human touch on their landing page, and address the visitor's biggest objection in their subheading.

If you want me to review a SaaS landing page, mention them below ⬇️⬇️ Image
.@charlierward's @weekendclubHQ landing page demonstrates how one great screen grab can SHOW not TELL the user what your startup does.

Also of note: benefits language, a simple sign up form, and signposting of what to expect on submitting. Image

Testimonials are proven to increase landing page conversion.

Today I'll share how to make them work for your startup's landing page.

Turn more visitors into customers.

A THREAD 👇🏾👇🏾
I've focused on testimonials from customers.

You can also use:

⭐️ customer logos
⭐️ online reviews
⭐️ expert ratings

⭐️ news stories
⭐️ customer stats
⭐️ influencer reviews
⭐️directory rankings

on your landing page to increase social proof
First, a recent trend is to take one powerful testimonial and showcase it with a customer photo. You can see this on @hotjar @Autopilotus @buffer and @whereby

Your landing page doesn't convert 🛑

12 questions you should ask yourself to fix it.

1. Can you currently measure the performance of your landing page? Including views, CTA clicks and conversions?
2. Do you have a compelling benefits-based heading and sub-heading that resonates with your buyer persona?
3. Do you use a clear product image or video to show (not tell) the visitor about your product?
