#FBI Director Christopher Wray will discuss the role civic education plays in national security during a webcast this afternoon at 2 p.m. EST. You can watch live at ow.ly/wPk650DWdZc. #NatSec@CSIS
During his remarks, Director Wray described how civic education intersects with national security and the FBI’s work: “First, it intersects with some of the threats the FBI and our nation confront today, and second, it can shape how we do our work.” ow.ly/tPBU50DXDI9
Wray: One example of how civic education affects a current national security threat is election security—and more broadly, the problem of malign foreign influence, which has been a top concern for the FBI recently.

The #FBI and our interagency and private sector partners are tracking Microsoft’s emergency patch for previously unknown vulnerabilities in email server software. Network owners should immediately patch their systems to help protect against attacks. #Cybersecurity

#ICYMI: During a congressional hearing this week, #FBI Director Christopher Wray discussed how end-to-end encryption threatens the FBI’s mission to protect the American people from federal crimes, including crimes against children, cyberattacks, and terrorism.
Wray: We are concerned that ... no matter how bulletproof or ironclad the legal authority, no matter how compelling the facts and circumstances, no matter how horrific the crime ... we will not be able to get access to the content that we need to keep people safe.
Wray: What we have been suggesting ... is for the companies themselves to build in a way to have legal access when confronted with a proper legal authority so that they can get access to information and provide it in response to a warrant or a court order.

Tax Scams: Beware of fraudsters who pretend to work for the IRS. The @IRSnews won't call you to demand you pay your taxes with a prepaid debit card or wire transfer. If an IRS imposter calls you this #TaxSeason, file a report at ic3.gov. #SlamTheScamChat@USAGov
Online Shopping Scams: When you shop online, confirm whether a website is secure and reputable before providing personal and financial information. Beware of suspicious websites and advertisements that offer brand name merchandise at extremely low prices. #SlamTheScamChat@USAGov

Memorial services were held Saturday and Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Law enforcement officers escorted the caskets to the stadium, where #FBI Director Christopher Wray eulogized both agents.
“On Tuesday, we lost not one of our own, but two,” Wray said at the services. “Two warriors who took on one of the hardest jobs in the FBI—crimes against children.”
