The @guardian made headlines Sunday by erroneously announding (while misquoting a confused John Kerry) that half of the technology we need to reduce emissions still needs to be invented.

That is actually very good news because immature basically means it will get much cheaper as we scale up.
For example: solar cells have become >100x cheaper in the last 50 years.

So the way I would have put it:
"Over 50% of the reductions will come from young technology that will become massively cheaper as we scale it up.
This is important because most forecasters keep pretending the tech is already mature in the sense that costs reductions will stop."
