The book presents the history of the #HumanitarianInitiative & the process leading to #TPNW from 2010-17.
Having been centrally involved in this process, it is a first-hand account of how the extraordinary cooperation of #states & #civilsociety made the #TPNW happen @nuclearban

By looking at the scientific facts & reframing the discourse on #nuclearweapons to center on the unacceptable #humanitarian #consequences and uncontrollable risks they pose to our shared security, we convinced 122 States to adopt the #TPNW in July 2017

The unequivocal aim was to give more urgency to #nucleardisarmament, to reinforce the #NPT, to strengthen the #taboo against #nuclearweapons & to reject a notion of security based on the most indiscriminate #weaponofmassdestruction

I discuss the cogent case for a ban on #nuclearweapons, address the critics’ narrative, and assess the extent to which the #TPNW has moved the dial on the nuclear weapons discourse and consider the transformational change that could be the result

My book intends to clarify the underlying rationale of #TPNW from a 1st hand experience & thus a contribution to dialogue on #nucleardisarmament It`s also an invitation for better understanding each other and how the promise of a world without nuclear can finally become a reality
