Dr. Tam "last time when our cases went down, restrictions were lifted too soon & cases went up again. This is why we need to be careful. It's a reasonable target [75% first dose = opening up more], but it really depends upon local measures & we have to be careful (paraphrased)

Dr Tam "this combination [AZ & Pfizer] looks to be safe. Although there's more reactions. We need to look at that more closely. Studies from Spain, we're looking to get that analyzed as soon as possible. ...

Dr Tam "With informed consent, people will be given a choice of AstraZeneca for second dose. We will come back w/info on mixed doses. That should come before need for second dose."

Please listen to the entire interview. As maddening as you will find it, to hear EO'T twist the facts - there is appropriate pushback from CBC's Jayme Poisson.

Note, at 20:45 Mr. O'Toole claims to have run on being a pro-choice. Please see next tweet w/article disputing this ...

PM Trudeau offered help to Alberta, but premier Kenney rejected it. That could have included health care workers to staff a field hospital

@CBCEyeopener excellent segment, where your guest talks about the problems with non-essential travel during the pandemic: the UK opening up travel for the citizens to other tourism destinations (fir instance); visiting countries who aren't as well off; overtourism.
2/
I couldn't figure out your guests' last name, her first name is Carla, with the University of Waterloo.

When she talked about overtourism, I thought about this map from an excellent article on the subject (link to article next tweet)

Here's the article. While Carla didn't mention cruise ships, and this article is mostly about them, there are also excellent sections in the piece that apply to any type of travel storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/70b3f9…

Premier Kenney finally just started speaking cpac.ca/en/direct/cpac…
2/
oh FFS
second sentence spoken "but the vaccines didn't arrive fast enough"

It's not the fed vaccine distribution that is causing our rising cases! It's provincial health measures that matter
3/
Kenney lists a bunch of places, including major cities & towns that will be more restricted, because their case counts are higher. Why not just make it province-wide?

Janyce McGregor "dosing intervals lies w/prov jurisdictions. Alta, for ex, is ahead of jurisdictions as being fully dosed. Other countries extended beyond initial wndw. NACI an independent branch. Not denying there's scientific debate, but not feds that decide this" (paraphrased)
(@CBCNews regarding Conservative motion before the House for debate during today's Opposition Day)
clarification
- rereading my abbreviation in tweet 1/
it can be misunderstood as reading that Albertans are fully dosed. What was said was more to do with Alberta being ahead in terms of how close we are to being fully dosed, compared to some other provinces.
