Hindu Rashtra was ALWAYS a myth. India was never one country till independence and it was not a country based on a religious identity.

All those "natives" of Hindu Rashtra grew up in good old Congress ruled secular India now trying to demolish their origins for a fantasy.

Before the British, India was a whole bunch of separate kingdoms, none of which suffered from religious xenophobia with Muslim rulers having trusted Hindu senior officials and vice versa.

If India "belongs" to the religion that ruled it most, that would be Buddhism in any case.

Hindu Rashtra is little more than an imaginary concept that at times was about all the land ever ruled by a Hindu ruler being one country, at other times going by Hindu as a regional identity rather than religious and at still other times, as upper caste Hindu supremacy.

Very few would be happy if the Hindu Rashtra actually manifested. Certainly not minorities or anyone interested in modern civics and ideals of equality. Most certainly not the underprivileged voters being sold a fantasy of inclusion by collaborating against Muslims.

Also not the NRIs who'd go from coming from the largest democracy in the world to the largest theocracy to kill own citizens wholesale and would basically then be perceived as well... not really suitable participants for the modern world.

If Modi, sugarcoated as he is in democratic lingo is an unending PR war that is rapidly devolving into increasingly desperate attempts and global humiliation, just imagine what the Hindu Rashtra would be without even the pretence of modern ideals as a fig leaf.

Time to put down the chillum and get sober.

And if you think a "Hindu" govt would be good for you, Gujarat has had one since ages for all the good it did to them. Congress is gone. Modi got two terms and is still whining while inflicting unnecessary problems on the country. Lives, economy, reputation, health.. you name it.

When they give out the religion ganja, they make sure you're too high to read the fine print - all you will get is religion. Losing everything else, is the price you pay for that high.

What in the world makes you think that the louts who undermine every organization, expert, word of caution would be good without any checks and balances?
