Turning Scorn Into Strategy, Organization, Action

Since my encounter with the good volunteers at the local Voter Registration Office last Monday, a strategy has been brewing. If it is birthed, it will be my very first state-level analysis.
2) It's a familiar emotion, now. I feel itchy. A new clarity is emerging, and when it is born, it will mean action. While I've never felt this at the state level before, I felt it for my nation continuously since 2016.
3) Before I can walk through the little almost-baby strategy, I have to talk a bit more about scorn itself. Here in the great state of Virginia, it is not possible for me to not feel scorn for the Republican Party I'm trying so hard to join.
4) "Democrats have won four of the five most recent gubernatorial elections and all thirteen statewide elections in Virginia since 2012. In 2019 Democrats won majorities in both the state House and Senate, creating a Democratic trifecta in Virginia for the first time since 1994."
5) A Democrat trifecta in Virginia for the first time since 1994.

Wow. Who remembers Reince Priebus and his Failure Analysis following the 2012 loss to Obama? I haven't read it yet, but I will.

documentcloud.org/documents/6242…
6) It makes me wonder. Who do you have to know around here to find the same effort following the 2019 Democrat trifecta in Virginia? If anyone knows about one, hit me up, please. Puhleeeze.
7) My emotion of scorn makes me certain that no one in our entire state has completed such an analysis. Oh man would I LOVE to be wrong. I feel I can tell you right now, if no such analysis has been done, Terry McAuliffe is already our next Governor.
8) By the way, the quote in #4 above comes from here:

ballotpedia.org/Virginia_guber…

I plan to follow all the links and rabbit holes you find in that story if you choose to. I need some help here, friends. There is a lot of research involved. Think about it, will you?
9) I will come back to organized team-completed research in a little bit. It might also be called Distributed Research. But first you have to let me be emotional. We've lost the entire government of our state. Gone. The Democrats are in 100% full control of Virginia. We're blue.
10) I was born and raised in Illinois, and Chicago will always be my hometown. I moved to California and grew a family there. We moved to Massachusetts and learned how to support our Autistic son there. After 5 years in Mexico, we returned to Maryland. Seeing a pattern yet?
11) After 11 years in Maryland we moved here to Virginia in 2015. In 2019, Virginia completes its blue transformation. First time since 1994. Damn. Why do we always, always, always live in Democrat territory?
12) And Mexico? You MUST not let me get going. We LOVE Mexico. Thought we'd live there for the rest of our lives. We were ready to become Mexicans, we love that nation so much. Nope. Mexico spit us out like the gringos we really are.
13) You MUST not let me get started on my September 11, 2001 story. Living in Mexico at the time, I discovered the true meaning of my patriotism for America, the USA, on that day and the days, weeks, months, and years following.
14) I must tell you this, until that day, I had rejected patriotism itself as a bad thing. Not really. I merely thought I had. My patriotism existed in my soul at a far deeper level than my merely conscious thoughts. 9/11. Now that was a moment of truth.
15) I mentioned organized, distributed research above. Let's go there now. Let's keep it simple. The Democrats are running an open primary right now here in Virginia. The Republicans have selected "our" candidate already with NO primary. Wait, what?
16) To the degree I understand it, the Republican Party of Virginia decided to have a Virtual Convention in which ONLY authorized delegates voted and selected some guy, what's his name?, Glenn Youngkin. I have no idea who this guy is, yet. I will. Hell, maybe he's great.
17) Wow. I'm already over this guy IF this story is true. I'll research it, but, come on, I already know this story is true. Sadly, I have to tell you, check it out. As so often the case, please know how much I want this to be wrong, or spun, etc.

washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-g…
18) Scorn. Analysis. My first run of research into the Virginia Republican Party is one of abysmal weakness to the point of malfeasance. I'll keep on researching. And that's where I need help. Who will join me? We MUST get to the bottom of this historic catastrophe for our state.
19) Let's add two points to today's list, research and analysis like so:

1) Research
2) Analysis
3) Strategy
4) Organization
5) Action
20) Here, again, is what I learned on Monday. The Republicans have no primary here in this state. The Democrats do. Our state does NOT register Party Affiliations, and all primaries are open to all registered voters - and no ID is allowed. None.
21) So...

So...

Why don't we Virginia Republicans ALL vote in this Democrat primary? Why not? Why not complete our research & analysis, build a strategy, organize, and determine WHO the Democrat candidate is, ourselves. Literally. We can choose their candidate.
22) Run with me here. If we decided to vote in this primary, we could select the candidate most capable of defeating Terry McAuliffe...AND...least capable of defeating Youngkin. We actually do have that power. Of that much I'm certain. Well, potential power.
23) You have to imagine this with me. What if every single Republican voter decided to vote for the exact same non-McAuliffe Democrat candidate? We'd effectively choose who would run. And, if we did this in large enough force, we'd STOP McAuliffe.
24) I'm damned excited about the strategy, but there's a vast problem. It's really just a theory and has NO basis in practice...as yet. That is, who's doing the research? Who's setting strategy? Who's organizing us? Where is our leadership?
25) No matter. Why not? I'm just a little analyst with no power or affiliation, yet my effort was able to aid Trump's win in 2016. I can do the same again here for this weak candidate, Youngkin. I'm not saying he can or will win. I am saying, we can do this ground level up.
26) In science there's this thing called self-organization. It's an almost universal thing. How does chaos generate order? There's a moment, a "forcing," when a system falls out of chaos and into order. It is an incredible study. But take my word for it. It really does happen.
27) The Virginia Democrat primary is running now for early voting, but the actual date is June 8. I can't make it happen. But if the powers that be accepted my strategy and we Republicans decided on a single non-McAuliffe candidate, we have the power to decide who runs.
28) The math is simple if the research and analysis are not. All we're looking for is their number 2. Which candidate will come in second? McAuliffe has already locked up number 1, without doubt or question. Who will get the second most votes?
29) If we decided who we wanted, we could take number 2 to number 1. And can you imagine the shock waves around America and the world if we took McAuliffe down? In blue Virginia? The term for this kind of thing is Victory Vision.
30) And stick with me. Let's say that "our" candidate not only defeats McAuliffe, but then defeats our man Youngkin. I say, so what? Meaning, ANY Democrat who is NOT McAuliffe is OUR victory, especially if it was US who decided, organized, acted, and determined the outcome.
31) But go further. Just imagine. What if WE, Virginia Republicans, decided the outcome of the Democrat primary? What if we knew that. What if the world knew that we did that? Then, in spite of how weak our man may be, what happens to our chances of winning in the fall?
32) In the business world we have an ancient saying:

There's nothing that succeeds like success.

Virginia is a blue state. So, of course the Democrats have already locked up the fall's election. Why? They have succeeded. We Republicans here are losers. We've already lost.
33) Perhaps we need a corollary saying:

There's nothing that loses like failure.

If we Virginians do not face our failure, we will absolutely ensure future losses. Virginia is blue? Now that's a loss.
34) I don't really know anything about it yet, but I'm already so pissed off I don't know how I can take it anymore. Who on Virginia's green turf allowed this to happen? What leader, or leaders, lost Virginia? How did they do that, and why did we let them?
35) And why is it so damned impossible for me to find my Albemarle County Republican Party Chair? Emails have been sent to obviously no response. How damned rude. And no phone numbers? I can't pick up the phone and call anyone? Why in tarnation not?
36) Yeah I'm pissed off. Hell, I'm damned furious. I live 7 miles away from Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. I know that after he lost his beloved Martha and was walking for 8 hours each day to grieve, he walked on the very property I live on. I'm not guessing.
37) And our state has abandoned the Constitution of the very nation that Jefferson helped create? We're now a "People's Republic Of?" Virginia is now no longer about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? We're becoming China's puppet state?
38) I want to know. Who let this happen? What "leadership" has failed to lead? Are there any good leaders? Can this man Youngkin have the chance of a snowball in hell, at least, of winning in the fall? I want to know. And yeah, I am pissed off.
39) I have to calm down. I'll go make some coffee, which I obviously need and require. But my heart is broken. I grew up in Illinois. I am not a native Virginian. But when I moved here, I hoped I might become one. Maybe I still will. I still hope.
40) But I'll tell you this. My heart has hardened against Republicans okay with losing. I have no truck with them. None. Not one iota. No forgiveness nor patience. You wanna win? I'll be your boy. You're okay with losing, you may have just met an enemy.

Nonviolent Political Defiance Action…NOW!

The first thing we have to do, today, is reach out - ALL OF YOU - to the incredible but too often silent, great @Anonymo94924320. If you haven't followed him, do. And check out this meme he sent me! Image
2) We have a lot of work to get done today. A lot. It may take more than my now-standard 30-Tweet limit. We'll see. To dive in, we're going to go deep. Seriously. Ready? Okay. Hegel - yes, the so-detested philosopher - has something we need.
3) Please bear with me. Hegel was likely the very WORST writer in the history of Western Philosophy. His students rarely do any better. Hegelian Philosophy may best be compared to language as spaghetti. And no tomato sauce either. Just boring, bland, cooked spaghetti.

#FromDictatorshipToDemocracy – Chapter 5: Exercising Power

This chapter (and especially page 44) has truly slowed my 2nd reading of this book, dramatically. I won't fully know why till I'm on the other side of the speed bump.
2) Perhaps part of the answer comes from this quote on the next page: "Nonviolent struggle is a much more complex and varied means of struggle than is violence."

Let's ponder what that means.
3) Complexity and simplicity can be defined by very simple math. It can be reduced to more than (>) vs less than (<) each other. A pencil with graphite and wood is a simpler thing for its 2 parts, than is a pen with its tip, ink source, casing, etc. The pencil is simpler.

#FromDictatorshipToDemocracy – Chapter 4: Exercising Power

Here's a list from page 45. It isn't an easy list to unpack.

The Categories of Weapons in Political Defiance:

1) Psychological
2) Social
3) Economic
4) Political
2) I think what I have to do is make it very personal. I know a great deal about psychology. For instance, I know how be respectful on the path to earning respect, and I can do this with enemies at will. I also know how to agree and disagree, gently yet forcefully.
3) Further, I also know how to introduce myself and initiate friendships. I have a list of local sheriffs I've been procrastinating reaching out to. I must STOP procrastinating. I can be a powerful friend. I will reach out to a minimum of 1 per day till my list is complete.

#FromDictatorshipToDemocracy – Chapter 4: Dictatorships have Weaknesses – Closing Case

Young fool that I was, I had NO idea of the power of showing my work when I was in school. I just hated rules and authority and rebelled over every little thing. ImageImage
2) For instance, how do you know how to note the day? Is it month first, or date first? I don't know, do you? As you can see in my pictures, I got it wrong, but, AHA!, I corrected my error. In this school, where we show our work, that's a badge of honor!
3) Another thing we do is quote our authors. We do NO plagiarism here. None. We attribute. And that's what we're going to do right now. I'm going to quote the points I underlined and dated. We love our authors here, and credit them every chance we can.

#FromDictatorshipToDemocracy – Chapter 4: Dictatorships have Weaknesses – Proof of Case

Let's discuss the scientific method. And we're going to discuss truth. Gene Sharp's work demands this. We must know the truth. Truth is what we cooperate with.
2) Within the scientific method, there is a single most powerful moment. It is the moment we've discovered "proof of case." A vaccine for polio is possible. Heavier than air flight is possible. Birds are heavier than air. Leonardo Da Vinci made that case. The Wrights proved it.
3) A dictatorship can be defeated. It has weaknesses. It has vulnerabilities. How is it, I ask, that YOU comply? How do you allow our current dictatorship its power? How do you help it cover for its weaknesses?

#FromDictatorshipToDemocracy – Chapter 4: Dictatorships have Weaknesses – The 17 Weaknesses

If there's a single fact we need Sharp to give us, it is the title of this chapter. Dictatorships have weaknesses. A moment from sci-fi will illustrate. ImageImageImageImage
2) Be it an alien invasion or some creature from beyond like Godzilla, the question is always, does it bleed? If the poor creature can, then its doom is already in the can. Monsters bleed and that means humans can kill them.
3) This is 100% true of all dictatorships. They bleed and they can be taken down. The simple fact that dictatorships DO, in fact, HAVE weaknesses is one of Sharp's greatest points. Tyrants do NOT enjoy the cosmic powers they wish us to believe they do.
