Today #DominicCummings will give evidence to parliament. This is what you don’t know. The revelation that he was sitting on SAGE had many consequences. This was one of them #FollowingWhatScience?
"It was definitely raised with the Prime Minister in the first half of January. The government did not treated it as the most important thing then, as it did not in February. It was not until the last week of February that there was a sense of urgency". #dominicummings
#dominicummings admitting it was all a slow-motion disaster, the official plan and advice were wrong and the PM was unable to realise it until too late is shocking to watch.
They therefore had to play a massive catch up to put up with the lack of preparation. 128k people died.
Cummings says that in March 2020 @MattHancock said in the cabinet room that people would have been tested BEFORE being sent to care homes.
It was a deadly LIE.
Hearing Section 3 out of 4 has just ended.
More 💣to come.
The wrap-up, in #Cummings' own words: "Tens of thousands of people died, who didn't need to die."
"A guy called Heneghan & a woman from Oxford, Sunetra Gupta, came and said 'don't lock down'. John Edmunds from SAGE said the lesson from March is to lock down. The PM said, 'I'm not persuaded of this' "
'The Cabinet was not involved or asked'
'There's a great misunderstanding that people have that because COVID nearly killed him that he took it seriously.'
Well this is unfortunate timing
'People need to understand the government failed them when they needed it.'
Cummings uncharacteristically reluctant to criticise Sunak’s signature #eatouttohelpout scheme. Can only imagine to the vitriol if it had been Hancock’s brainchild 🧐
'The Prime Minister's girlfriend was trying to appoint her friends to certain positions in ways that were clearly unethical and probably illegal'
He recognised Johnson’s incompetence, he was making “terrible decisions” but felt unable to make the situation better. This was worsened by what he saw with Carrie Symonds’ toxic influence to an already dysfunctional dynamic.
Absolutely this from @MichaelRosenYes. It's not a pantomime. It's mass murder.
Finding Cummings’ liberal use of the phrase ‘death bed’, relating to himself when in Durham and Johnson when he was in hospital, a bit sickening. Neither men required intensive care, so it is unnecessary hyperbole.
In the context of 10000s dead it seems in especially poor taste
'I've got WhatsApps between me & all sorts of senior people.' There it is again. Compelling testimony from Dominic Cummings on why our legal challenge with @Foxglovelegal is so essential.
Let the Ben Warner drinking game commence. Sip for a name check, shot when DC passes the buck to him, down it when #DominicCummings compares him to Jeff Goldblum in Independence Day (yes that just happened) 🍻
Uh oh… I didn’t expect it to be this lethal. Switching to OJ. And have a biscuit every time Ben’s brother Mark gets a mention.
"A lot of people in government kept thinking that the real damage would be the economical one". Thousands died. #dominicummings
On Saturday, @carolecadwalla published a story on how the government had 'tried to block' data on spread of new Covid variant in English schools, just ahead of its decision to remove the mandate on masks.
Around 10 pm on Saturday, in the middle of Eurovision Public Health England, finally publishes the omitted (for 3 days) data on spread of Indian variant. Data on schools still missing. WHY?
BREAKING: 10 British lobbying companies, each listed on the UK lobby register, have donated a total of £730,514 to the Conservative party - either directly or via their directors.

Following @allthecitizens / @BylineTimes previous reporting that half of all donations by lobbyists, since the register was established in 2015, went to the Tories, we expand that to include company directors, and pre-2015 donations to political parties:
Hanover Communications won as much as £1,000,000 over 2 gov contracts (incl group award), they’ve also donated £51k to the Tories since 2010. Hanover are prolific lobbyists - clients include Microsoft, American Pharmaceutical Group, and Nexter Systems.
