Brainwashing happens GRADUALLY.

Which is why it's difficult to spot.

Narratives gets subtly reinforced.

Over & over again...

At first, you don't make much of it.

But overtime?

You have altered beliefs.

Be very alert.

All content is not good content. A lot are sinister.
Good content makes good people great

Bad content makes good people resent the great

👇
'What is the most important topics in the information age?'

Media literacy

'Media what??'

Media literacy...
Media literacy is the ability to:

-spot the intent of content
-scope good content from bad
-create media
'What if my media literacy is average?'

Then you increase the likelihood of getting brainwashed

A lot of sinister people out there
Brainwashing does not happen in an obvious manner

It happens subtly

Undercover
If it was too obvious, then the brainwashing attempt will fail

It needs to be sneaky

So the target has no clue that it's happening to them
'How does one brainwash someone? Is there a certain move?'

Not one move

Multiple moves
A few moves in the digital space include:

-creating an us vs them narrative
-throttling certain accounts
-boosting propaganda on the trending section
-repitition

There are many more other tactics. But these are a few common methods
'And why does contex have the power to change my mind??'

Because content = thoughts

Media = Communication + Information Technology
The content you consume is the person you become

And this becoming process happens over time

The clearest targets for getting brainwashed are people who take it day by day

no purpose or direction
'And how do I build my media literacy?'

Few ways

One of the fastest ways is to create media yourself
Create the content you'd like to consume

If you're reading this, then you have a media account

Are you just consuming?

Or can you share some ideas too?
The creation process allows a consumer to understand a new mindset

The mindset of a creator

And this creator mindset can spot intent of media content in a strategic way
They know when they are being lied to

Or they know when something feels off
Another way to build media literacy is to understand the history of media

few topics to learn are:

-traditional media
-new media
-web 2.0
-penny papers
-role of journalists in society

etc
you don't eat junk and expect to be healthy

so don't expect to consume junk and expect to think great thoughts
Follow accounts that value post count over follower count

Those are the accounts that focus on craft over fame
The right content will have you thinking grander thoughts

Will make the nervous system feel empowered

And behaviors will be targeted towards a direction
Bad content will install a 'what's even the point?' mentality

Will have you debating with strangers

And will get you angry about random stuff
People who get brainwashed have no clue they are getting brainwashed

It's serious

Especially in the information age

When there is nothing to do, the body defaults to feeling tired.

When challenges are presented, the body defaults to feeling energized.

If you always feel tired, it's not always because you're doing too much.

It may be because you're not doing enough.
A mind with nothing to do dwells

A body with nothing to do feels sleepy...

In school, memorization is rewarded.

In the real world, understanding is.
Understanding leads to memorization of the right things

Memorization does not always lead to an understanding of the right things.
Let's talk a bit about the difference between school education and real world education

Just because the 2 phrases have 'education' does not mean they are being used the same way

Mentality HACK:

View boring tasks as 'focus sharpeners'

-doing the dishes
-folding laundry
-cleaning your room

Exercising your focus in one area of your life spills over to other parts

While everyone is doing these tasks with negativity, you're doing it to level up your mind
With the right lens, anything becomes an opportunity to build focus

The ability to stay in the present
Boring tasks are a great candidate because of the pattern

'Pattern with what?'

Pattern with the gym...

The secret to creativity is a lack of planning.
That's not to say discipline is lacking.

'But a lacking of planning means a lack of discipline, no?'

Not quite..

Maintain discipline

Be unpredictable with content
Structured chaos is the name of the game.

Creativity can be an excuse to live a life of a slob

But that's misguided thinking
