I remember watching Band of Brothers with my grandpa. Violence in movies never bothered him. But he couldn't get past the scene where all the men were on the docks getting ready to head across the Atlantic.
It reminded him of the last time he saw many of his friends.

His brother, my Uncle Tillman, fought at Bastogne, where he took shrapnel to the skull. He survived. But he never really came back. The rest of his life was marred by mood swings and illness and untreated trauma. He died fairly young.
anyway, if you fought the Nazis in or before WW2, whether as a soldier of some nation, a partisan insurgent or a street fighter battling fascists in bars, you have my thanks.
