Hey @target@AskTarget@TargetNews I love you. I do. But can I make a suggestion? The first round of suggestions didn’t work when I spoke to corporate about your blue Halloween buckets. I’m still upset over that and would love to chat more. DM me anytime.
My next suggestion is adding inclusive bathrooms to your stores. Including bathrooms areas that are private and can accommodate adults different toileting options (hint, not everyone can use a toilet).
I’m asking you because you seem to try to do right by your customers. You seem to care.
Did you know that there are many people, of all ages, that have to leave your store and go home because you don’t have accommodations set up for more accessible toileting options?
Unless a child is under two, there are no options for someone to be changed or receive toileting support in privacy.
Sure, we can do it on the floor in the bathroom. But that’s gross. You like your customers better then that, right? I would like to think so.
I made a call to corporate a few weeks ago. The employees seemed interested, got my info and said I would get a call back.
So far...crickets. Nothing. Nada. Zip. So, @target, how can we make this work? You want to be roll models in inclusion? Take this next step. It doesn’t have to be hard or expensive. But it would mean a lot to your customers.
It would mean you value value disabled people. You can sell shirts all day about loving everybody and kindness matters. But unless you take the next step in showing that you care, it means nothing.
Oh and PS, those blue pumpkins aren’t ok. Really, seriously. It’s putting children’s lives at risk. Autistic children deserve better. Please let me help you with a better solution! #autism#autistic#ActuallyAutistic#autismacceptance
Hey, @Target@AskTarget I know you’ve seen my post. In fact you commented on a comment from a follower on another page. This isn’t enough. Following the ada is bare minimum. You are better then this. Which is why I am asking you, right now, to take this opportunity to do better.
I chose you because I know you say you like to be a leader in inclusion. Walk the walk. Talk the talk. Don’t mean the minimum standards. Level up!
Also, I don’t want you just to share my tweet to your development department, I’m asking to have a conversation. My tweet hasn’t gone into details about changing tables and things that could be useful. Please contact me.
