Promising research into metastatic #breastcancer from the UK in @Nature

The FDA-approved antibiotic Bedaquiline (for multi-drug resistant tuberculosis) “downregulated ATP5F1C expression in vitro and prevented spontaneous metastasis in vivo”

nature.com/articles/s4141…
Bedaquiline prevented “spontaneous metastasis in a xenograft model, without affecting tumor growth, or inducing significant toxicity… consistent with the idea that ATP is a functional biomarker of metastasis.”
Small study: 12 female patients with a diagnosis of invasive breast carcinoma. Samples of lymph node metastasis (5) or distant metastasis alone (6). One sample included the primary tumor; axillary lymph nodal metastasis; plus skin and the liver metastases.
Researchers were also “able to successfully down-regulate ATP5F1C expression in an inducible manner, by using low levels of Doxycycline.” Image

Trafficking and belief in the Big Lie isn’t a new virus infecting the American psyche.

It’s an evolution of disbelief that Isaac Asimov identified in his 21 January 1980 essay, “A Cult of Ignorance”, published in Newsweek.

🧵 follows

justinclark.org/blog/the-anti-…
<< It’s hard to quarrel with that ancient justification of the free press: “America’s right to know.” It seems almost cruel to ask, ingenuously, “America’s right to know what, please? Science? Mathematics? Economics? Foreign languages?”
🧵
None of those things, of course . In fact, one might well suppose that the popular feeling is that Americans are a lot better off without any of that tripe.

There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism…

To capture the financial reality of the richest Americans, ProPublica compared how the 25 richest Americans paid in taxes each year to how much Forbes estimated their wealth grew in that same time period. Groundbreaking analysis.

propublica.org/article/the-se…
ProPublica asked every person whose tax information is described to comment; “all said they had paid the taxes they owed.” Which is true by the letter of the law but not by any concept of fairness or morals.
As the @nytimes notes: the US tax system is rigged in its emphasis on taxing labor differently (more harshly) than it does income from wealth. We need a wealth tax for expediency + increase in corporate rates (I’d take Reagan’s) but we truly need overhaul.

SO WHY were rank-and-file unprepared?
Capitol Police had seen comments on a pro-Trump website about the Capitol's tunnel system and that encouraged demonstrators to bring weapons to subdue members of Congress and police and to reverse the presidential election's results.
Here’s the Senate bipartisan report on US Capitol Police and #January6thInsurrection

False public comments designed to manipulate stock are illegal, that is, not protected speech.

WTH aren’t these lies in the same non-protected speech as that in Brandenburg v. Ohio, 395 U.S. 444 (1969)?
The government CAN punish inflammatory speech “where such advocacy is directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action.”

Do we really need any more proof of incitement after #January6th ?
After all, ‘communist’ leaders from the 1950s were tried, convicted & imprisoned. The Brandenburg case (he was a leader in the Ohio Ku Klux Klan) did not touch Dennis v. United States (1951), which had upheld convictions of non-imminent-threat speech. mtsu.edu/first-amendmen…

Kemp’s letter belongs with each-and-every public statement made by southerners on slavery when the south seceded.

Confederates lost the battle but sure as hell are winning the war.
Southerner secessionists vehemently objected to Lincoln’s election as President. They blamed northerners but did not claim the election was stolen. They relied upon a different Big Lie, the lie that slavery was a natural state for negros and blessed by the Creator.
Alexander H. Stephen, VP, Confederate States of America; March 21, 1961
“our new government['s] foundations are laid…upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition.” Image

Why is this treasonous call not in major news today?
I know it’s a holiday weekend…. so digital-only media/platforms must keep the story alive… like blogs did when Sen Trent Lott celebrated Strom Thurmond’s legacy of White supremacy on his 100th birthday, December 5, 2002.
Sen. Trent Lott resigned as majority leader on December 20, 2002, due in no small part to the burgeoning political blogging ecosystem.

Keep sharing these stories and videos. @VICE has a rundown. In addition to Flynn’s treason … we have a Roger Stone advisor calling for Hillary Clinton to be executed.
