"In one recent Zoom call, writers even complained to Mr. Remnick of their fears of being bullied on Twitter if they diverge from union talking points." god i am so glad i left that place in the end - where you can get a pulitzer but not health insurance nytimes.com/2021/06/13/bus…
all power to the @newyorkerunion for working to change the magazine from a place that chews people up and spits them out for chump change and calls it collegiality
i will always remember david remnick laughing about the unionization during my exit interview and explaining that we simply didnt understand how generous condé nast was to the magazine
things i also remember: sobbing in my boss's office after my divorce because i was trying to get reclassified as an employee not a subcontractor (while working 40+hr/wk) so i could have health insurance. the managing editor emailing my boss bc i tweeted about vibrators. etc
so telling that so much of the anti union sentiment is about "needing to earn your place" at a magazine where theres this vague culture of silent WASPy fear and absolutely no clear guidelines about anything
its like a haunted ass library that underpays its staffers so egregiously you cant even imagine

some dickhead tried to get me to be nicer to people in the most condescending way imaginable but in the process called me a vicious "twenty-something" which is such a compliment 💖 thanks to that asswad
because there's a magician named rick lax who has a web of viral content pages, a subset of which is "thin white women do gross shit to food." this lady is a magician's assistant & part of the content network
@broderick busted this wide open last month & i clicked on this vid, thought "i bet the evil magician is doing this," and sure enough a bit of linkedin and fb snooping confirmed it google.com/amp/s/www.eate…
its just very funny to me that the answer to "why are there all these gross food videos everywhere" is, drectly, "a sinister magician"
i did an 8 minute interval and only *felt* like throwing up, did not actually throw up, so thats a bonus
running is hard 😫 and its taken me 8 weeks to do 5 "weeks" of the couch to 5k program 😩 but i like empirical evidence that my body can do more stuff 🤗 and i hope it helps with mood things and anxiety eventually 🤗
(the stats here are slightly misleading, it was a 5 minute running interval, 3min walk, 8min run, 5min walk, 5min run)
my version of white girl dancing is attempting to syncopate my hips with my thrashing curly ponytail, and if anyone ever tries to video it i will spend my life learning the skills of Black Widow solely in order to assassinate them
I think expecting people to instantly give up on 15 months of fundamental changes to their behavior and lives, and pathologizing and mocking any hesitancy, is unrealistic, cruel and frankly bizarre
hey @Postmates_Help i tried to cancel this order 3 times with its obviously wildly inflated charge unsuccessfully. the liquor store told me the total was $74. what's good????
some of us are agoraphobes who still want to drink friday afternoon ok
