Back then we barely understood tests, let alone variants or vaccines.

- Limited Testing with some limited relaxations once the virus was locked down
- then either a vaccine came or did not
- but Trace and Isolate had to work regardless.

- We can rule out Captain Hindsight, this was Foresight
- and I've ruled out smart/omniscient

I wasn't the only one who did this within 10 days of #Johnson lying about containment end

So how?

If you follow the science it's not easy.
It's bloomin obvious

Sadly it also means you know they're NOT following science.
That means thousands die unnecessarily - about 80,000 of our 130K dead so far🔽

What was obvious is the people who got it so wrong, will never get it right. They will just kill more.

I don't know the worst way to deal with a rampant infection. But I can speculate on one of the worst.

Good is:
You know the infection needs careful local intervention and a whole combination of measures to keep it under control, especially to spot & stop new variant blooms

Here's one of the worst:

Fire Spot and Stop experts
Lie about preparedness
Move everything centrally
Deny local teams data, then make it up
Announce a silver bullet solution every day - NHS App?
Cover none ever arrive with next bullet
Hop between half measure and lousy decision

What the jingoistic vaccine nonsense has covered
is it's not all about the vaccine, and it was NEVER all about the vaccine.

Don't get me wrong - the vaccine is incredibly helpful, but not if it's a cover for all the other incompetence.

And so we get this impossible madness.

I've been writing these threads a long time, I hope not as an exercise in madness.

I've been hoping on this: Slowly and surely dear followers, you're all becoming virologists.

I never thought I'd write anything in favour of Cummings. But we're comparing liar with liar, so which dialogue fits the scientific facts?
