How I found my first $1,000,000+ e-commerce product

This is a simple formula anyone can follow

THREAD
Some of you might know my first big winner was Apple Watch straps

Not your typical "winning product"

But in 2018 it went on to generate me over $1.5M in sales

Here's how I found it ↓
It's a cold winter night, I'm working my pizza delivery job about to start closing the store

I walk up to the front and notice my co-worker just got a new Apple Watch

It caught my eye because he had a cool band for it that I'd never seen before
I ask him where he got it

He said it was a Christmas gift

I say oh cool and walk away
Then I do a double take

"Wait... that's a really cool product. I wonder if I could sell that..."

I hop in a booth and pull out my phone, quickly navigating to AliExpress
I type "Apple watch straps" in the search bar

The results come up

There's tons of listings

Some of them even have really good pictures
I put my phone away and close the store, getting home around 11

Immediately I pull out my laptop and start building out the store

4 hours later I have the store finished and ads scheduled
Fast forward a year?

That store generated over $1.5M in sales and pretty much completely changed my life
But how did I find the product?

It was just an idea I got at work, right?

Kind of, but there's more to it than that ↓
Up until this point one of the major things I'd been doing is training my brain to, every time I saw a product, ask myself,

"Could I sell that?"

Products I'd bought, products my friends bought, products I saw people wearing or using on the street, anything
Every time I saw a product my first thought was always

"Could I sell that?"

I asked myself that questions dozens of times every day, and most of the time it'd end up being nothing
But then that one time, with that one product, it ended up being a complete game changer

And that's the thing...

Great product ideas are EVERYWHERE

But the key part is, you have to be looking for them
This is a 2 step process

1. You apply the filter of "could I sell this?" to everything you see (takes a bit of time but eventually it becomes automatic)

2. You just live your life with this filter constantly on, running every product you see in your day-to-day life through it
Products you see on Instagram, products you see your friends wearing or buying, products you see random people with, etc...

You see dozens of different products every day

Any one of them could be your next big winner
But if you want to find them, you have to be consciously looking for them

So train your brain to ask that one key question...

"Could I sell that?"

Every single time you see a product
And over the course of a few weeks you'll come up with hundreds of product ideas, most of which will be shit

But the cool part is it only takes 1 good idea (executed well of course) to change your life

Do with that what you will!

Pce.

THREAD: How to VALIDATE ideas

Before you start a business you need to figure out if your idea is actually good or not

This is the first and most crucial step in any business

Here’s how to do it ↓
Validating ideas = determining if anyone actually wants what you’re trying to sell (before spending months building out the entire business)

Think of it as a demand test
The goal is to get the most basic bare bones version of your idea in front of people who might want or need it…

In the LEAST amount of time, and while spending the LEAST amount of money…

So you can see if anyone is actually willing to buy it

It’s not perfect, but following this weird “points” system is about the closest you can get to guaranteeing your success in business

How to make your success INEVITABLE

THREAD
People think success is a mystery. It’s not. Simply put success is the result of consistent effort compounded over time

This is (in my opinion) the single most important concept to understand if you want succeed in business
Because of this, our #1 priority should be putting in consistent effort on a daily basis over a long period of time

This is easier said than done however

So to make it easier, we gamify it

Here’s how it works

Want to increase your store’s conversion rate? Make your product page SKIMMABLE

This is a small change that can make a huge difference

THREAD
In ecom no one’s reading every word on your product page. 95% of the time they’re SKIMMING, which means your page should be structured to reflect that
Easiest way to do that is to treat your headlines as if they were the ONLY words you get to sell your product

The best kept secret in e-commerce? Products with BUILT-IN demand

I accidentally discovered this in 2018 and it completely changed the way I find products to sell (not to mention generated me over $1M+ in sales)

Forget “winning products” — this is way easier

THREAD
This is a method for finding products to sell with e-commerce / dropshipping

The basic concept is instead of selling any random product, you sell a product that “piggybacks” off an existing (often expensive) product that’s ALREADY popular
This usually takes the form of an accessory or upgrade

(If someone spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on a product, a $30 accessory that improves it or makes it more unique is a pretty easy sell)

Prime example:

ENJOY. THE FUCKING. PROCESS.

~ A Thread ~
This is an excerpt from a paid product we'll be launching soon but felt it was important enough to release for free

Finally, I want to leave you with one piece of advice I wish I could go back and give my former self:

Enjoy. The Fucking. Process.

When you’re first starting out it can be kind of a struggle, and that struggle can feel like it fucking sucks.
