The main focus of the meeting was to strengthen the democratic process. PM @narendramodi said that we are fully committed to the democratic process in J&K. He stressed that the holding assembly elections just like the successful conduct of DDC elections is a priority.
It was discussed that elections can happen soon after delimitation and by and large most participants expressed willingness for it. PM @narendramodi emphasised the need to strengthen democracy at the grassroots & work together with the people of J&K to ensure their upliftment.
PM @narendramodi expressed happiness on the commitment to Constitution and Democracy espoused by all participants. PM said that even one death in J&K is painful and it is our collective duty to protect our younger generation.
PM stressed that we need to give opportunities to our youth of J&K and they will give back lots to our country. The development achieved by J&K was discussed in detail with implementation of many pro-people initiatives.
PM expressed satisfaction with acceleration of development in J&K and said that it is creating new hope and aspirations among the people. PM said that when people experience corruption free governance, it inspires trust among the people and people also extend their co-operation.
PM @narendramodi said that there would be political differences but everyone should work in national interest so that the people of J&K benefit. PM stressed that an atmosphere of safety and security needs to be ensured for all sections of society in J&K.

LATEST: Collector Surajpur District of Chattisgarh Ranbir Sharma has issued an apology for his behaviour. This is being circulated by Chattisgarh Govt in media for damage control. He is a Govt servant and has to abide by civil service rules. Chattisgarh Govt needs to act ASAP.

PM stressed that it is important to ensure synergy across ministries & state govts. PM took a detailed review of current situation of oxygen supply & projected use in 15days across 12 high burden states Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh etc.
Overview of district level situation in these states was presented to the PM. PM was informed that the Centre and States are in regular contact and estimates for projected demand have been shared with states as on 20th April, 25th April & 30th April.

MI unit while working on inputs related to a suspicious group, learnt that #COVID19 medicine Remdevisir used for making COVID vaccine is being sold in black. The demand for this COVID-19 medicine was very high in market owing to the increase in COVID cases across India.
Finding the input relevant, it was developed and actionable leads were acquired. To take the case to logical conclusion all the leads were shared with Special Task Force (STF) of UP Police.

Chief Secretary, Government of #Uttarakhand briefed the Committee through video conference on the ground situation as well as the actions taken by them after the incident to evacuate people and to contain the damage caused by the flooding due to the glacial burst.
Glacial burst led to the rising water levels in the river Rishiganga which washed away the Rishiganga small hydro project of 13.2 MW. The flash flood also affected the downstream hydro project of NTPC at Tapovan on the river Dhauliganga which is a tributary of river Alaknanda.

Operation-Cross Connection: On Friday, in an significant counter espionage operation, UP ATS arrested a retired Army soldier, Signalman Saurabh Sharma based on input by Lucknow based Military Intelligence. He was working with Karachi based Pakistani Intel agency since 2016.
Earlier in Nov 2020 officials of Lucknow MI received inputs indicating involvement Retd Signalman Saurabh Sharma in espionage activities. Input was further developed as "Operation Cross-Connection". The details were shared with UP ATS in early Dec and a joint probe was initiated.
On Friday (8th January) after working on the input for a month UP ATS arrested the suspect Sharma from his parental house in village Bihuni, Hapur, UP. Sharma accepted and confessed to his involvement with the Pakistani intelligence agency.
